Actually to most, it would be considered harmless until the artist merit of the Churchill Crown is contemplated which is always a crowd pleaser... And then there is the double die of the Churchill portrait that no one wants to recognize as being perhaps the most significant double die in UK coinage for the second half of the twentieth century because it is rarely encountered. And that becomes circular going back to the artistic issue in that the coin is not very popular among collectors. Sad... But that is unfortunately the Readers Digest version of how it is.

After all he did for Great Britain during the war years his party still lost the election in 1945
although his approval rating never fell below 78%.
That fact I find amazing.

We shall go on to the end.
We shall fight in France.
We shall fight on the seas and oceans.
We shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air.
We shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be.
We shall fight on the beaches.
We shall fight on the landing grounds.
We shall fight in the fields and in the streets.
We shall fight in the hills.
We shall never surrender!!!

I thought so too, but don't get the connection with Churchill. He was First Lord of the Admiralty (noncom head of the Royal Navy) prior to WWI, but did he have some sort of honorary title in the US? Congress awarded him honorary US citizenship, but I am unsure about other US honors.

As you mentioned, Churchill was made an honorary US citizen (his US passport is on display at the Churchill War Rooms in London), and there is a U.S. Navy ship named the U.S.S. Winston S. Churchill.
That counterstamped Churchill crown was made by someone earlier this year using a vintage WWII-era Navy punch. About 10 or so were made, a few of which were sent to the commander of Churchill's namesake ship. The rest reside in a select few private collections.

I like the Churchill crown design also. The Queen is very deep relief (still amazes me they can do that on a large nickel coin) and the reverse is more subtle and artistic.

Nice, but you gotta adjust your white balance; black balance; clear balance; FS number; SF number; SHTF settings and dozens of others. Plus need about an $800 lighting setup.
Study these things for 20 years and you will be ready to take your next picture.

I'm still waiting for a response but I'm not holding my breath waiting for it. It's funny that Churchill was the real blitzdude since he provided leadership and inspiration to the British people during the blitz which was what the massive German aerial bombardment of Great Britain was called during the dark early years of WWII.

See, I thought if I posted this, everyone would know what I was getting at and..... oh never mind.
Good play on letters, I got it because I saw most of that thread.
Some may not have seen the now removed "Removed" thread which contained a small gentlemanly tiff that led to the posting of some Private Messages (PM's), and contributed to the deserved nuclear annihilation of the discussion. Posting PM's (Private Messages) is generally frowned upon, so Churchill was a safe "PM" (Prime Minister) to post.

Thx for the explanation. I followed the thread to where the PM war was about to break out but I missed the action.

I don't disagree nor agree with this statement. But I do think it could have been worded better for instructional purposes and to be far less inflammatory.
The fact is that Churchill was a war hero - someone who's leadership impacted the outcome of the war to the extent that millions of people might be speaking German or Japanese today instead of English, not to mention under harsher prejudice.
However, Churchill had a dark side to him that is not well publicized. If you search, you will find out about some of his shortcomings. I will not go into them here as the thread will instantly go poof.
