Any ideas on how to get these rubber band streaks off this bar?

Try soaking it in some acetone. If that don't work, try some coin dip such as Tarn-x or E-Z-Est.

Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.

Acetone or MS70 should work. Cheers, RickO

Robber is vulcanized with sulphur. The sulphur is what reacted with the silver.
E-Z- est will take some off but usually not all even after a long soak. After that, nitric acid or emory paper will work. Acetone, and water are useless in this instant.

The most money I made are on coins I haven't sold.

    Got quoins?

Take a rubber band and stretch it a few times and then smell it. That's the sulfur which is highly reactive with silver.

Not sure if this is true, but sounds plausible

When silver is attacked by sulfur, the chemical reaction leaves the metal with a brown-black patina which does not result in much metal loss. The attack also results in black fissures and pits. The rate of pitting attack is generally slow, but can increase if a stronger acid or salts are present.

I almost cried when I first seen the bar. Albeit just a bullion bar, I still want it to look presentable...
