Five spams and the post (thread?) disappears?
There is a certain poster who just created several threads dealing with crypto-currencies. I opened them, saw them as spam and noticed that in each 4 other posters had clicked spam. I joined them in clicking spam, making a total of 5 spam clicks. Each time I did so, the thread disappeared (from at least my view) and a notice said that the thread would be viewed by moderators. So, I have two questions which I hope someone can answer for me:
1. If post is clicked 5 times for spam, does it always disappear? How about a thread?
2. If so, was this known? I readily admit that I did not realize it.
Thanks in advance!
Mark

@Mark nobody truly knows whats going on around here. It's all top secret.
Later, Paul.
Yes, Five Spams and gone.
I have had the very great pleasure of being #5 on several bitcoin threads.
Interesting - I did not know that. I did click the spam flag on these - I counted 10 threads today (and three a few days ago). That person probably figured with the holiday the moderators would have the day off.
I hope that poster was banned but I am not sure how to check once the thread is gone.
I'm guessing that it is an automatic feature. There is a pop-up box that says the thread is being removed for review. One hopes that the bitcoin stuff is gone for good.
Is that the 'Flag' icon?
Flag/Spam
@BillDugan1959 Thanks for the confirmation.
@RogerB Yes, it is the flag icon. You have a choice of clicking "Abuse," "Spam," or "Report." As @Stooge suggests, I (personally) have NO idea what happens if you click "Report" nor do I (personally) know what happens if a post gets 5 abuse clicks.
Thanks! Having never had reason to click the icon, I didn't know what was behind the curtain.
What is the problem with a bitcoin discussion? They are being collected and slabbed by two TPGS's. Was the OP trying to draw attention to his product? Do you guys flagging a post for spam believe that they should not be discussed?
BTW, What is "Spam?" I collected some.
They were a sales pitch - links to other sites. Ten threads in a row. Poster signed up just to post the spam threads. Did not even have the decency to include a picture of a corroded cent or a steamrolled nickel.
Hope he gets banned. Now I know what one kind of "Spam" is. Thanks.
Looks and sounds like '6th Amendment' to me
5 and BOOM!

This short video sums up how spam is really dealt with on the U.S. Coin Forum.
Good to know.
My guess is 5 flags and a post will get hidden from the public until moderators can determine to reinstate or not. Seems like you may have stumbled upon a forum Easter egg!
It'll come in handy for future CAC threads.
I have several spam hits...which is strange since I have never tried to sell anything or promote anyone's product. There are some people who are malicious though and enjoy doing stupid things. Cheers, RickO
Is "5 Flags" like "12 Monkeys" ?
Me too.
I perused your spams (seemingly unjustified), and most are from the same user ID....
Spam is just JUNK MAIL. If someone feels you've posted something that fits into that category, I guess they can flag you unless they're just pranking you. You've collected five spams.
Ricko, you've got a dozen spams!!!
I've never seen either of you two posting Spam. Must be pranks.
I used to have 1 ABUSE but it's back to 0. Maybe the moderator cleaned it up? Anybody else have reset buttons like that??? Now I'm noticing 3 DISAGREES.....you kind of need some of those to be well rounded don't you? Don't you ALL AGREE?
@JBK ....@Onastone....Yes, one member also has done the majority of disagrees...even though there was nothing to disagree with...Cheers, RickO
I think you just have that affect with animals
I got disagree just by saying amen in the spirit of the thread. Imagine what would happen if I reveal my other belief?

You've got to be kidding.....really? And all our coins say IN GOD WE TRUST...... (well, most of 'em!)
Yap......I am telling you it's scarier than being in the 'C' box
