Which Reggie Rookie do you like better?

mintonlyplsmintonlypls Posts: 2,140 ✭✭✭✭✭

I am thinking about selling my psa-9 and buying this psa-8.5. I only am doing so to raise cash. I hate to part with the "9"...but this "8.5" is a nice consolation prize. What do you think about the two cards? Please...vote for your preference.

I am indifferent between the two cards. Does one have a better centered or brighter back than the other? Otherwise to me it is a toss-up.

The backs are comparable in toning and centering.

They look pretty comparable from the scans, can't say I like either one better so no vote. Seems like a reasonable downgrade to free up some funds.

The price difference is about $12k to 15k depending on the aesthetics of the two cards being compared (9 vs 8.5)...

That top left corner on the 8.5 bothers me. Personally I like your 9 better.

The top left corner of the 8.5 looks slightly touched and could be the reason for the difference in grades. The 9 I think is a slightly nicer card. But $10k nicer? Not for me. The Reggie rookie I've had for 30 years is a PSA3, I have never upgraded because he was my most hated player as a kid growing up. If pricing on both sides were locked in and I could pocket $10k (or maybe even $15k) I'd make the trade and go get something sweet that I really wanted. But that's just me, what makes you happy could very well be different. Depending on what you collect, where you allocate your resources, its up to you.

I am partial to the 9 mainly due to the registration. On the 8.5 the registration favors the right and makes it appear slightly o/c.

Depends on what you will be potentially doing with the 10-15K.

PSA 9 all the way. The top left corner on the 8.5 would drive me crazy! Even with the price difference, the perfection of the corners on the 9 is worth it.

They are both super nice but for a $10K difference, I'd live with that top left corner any day.

Love this card. Your 9 rocks. In terms of holding value, that card is near the top of my list. I can't imagine another place I'd put the money in terms of cards. Unless you think we are near the top, then I'd hold onto both of those.

I think the centering is better on the 8.5. If you centered the 9 in the holder so you could see the entire top border I think it would show that it would look slightly OC T/B.

Definitely the 9 because of that upper left corner on the 8.5

Agree re: the 9. I actually think the 8.5 should be more like an 8 with the top left corner.

The 8.5 is centered better but the 9 far outshines the 8.5 on my first glance impression. If the upper left corner was equal to any of the the other 3 corners on the 8.5 I would take the 8.5 and use the funds for something else. In this case however I would keep the PSA 9.
