If we like a person we give them names (and let them know it too). Here are a few example I can think of:

    Squeeky
    Hedgie
Gopher (as in the Caddy Shack fur ball)
    Mini me
    Porn Queen
    The kid
    Genius

BC did not buy his big fossil at Heritage. Does not matter if Heritage or Stacks know-like a real Black Cat-he is loyal.

We plan on making some big purchases at ANA. We just won't set off a siren afterwords.

So, which one of these is Simpson? You do like him, right?

I'm going back to my original guess. BC collection is owned by Shahid Khan.

New collector, maybe a lottery winnner?
I do wonder if any of the new big players have actually won the lottery and are putting that new found wealth into the numismatic market.
When you have a billion, there are a million ways to spend it and when you have millions, there are thousands of ways to spend it in this industry.

Nope, BC is self made businessman. he was in coins in his teens, let for for 40 years and now is baaaack......He is incredibly sharp and both coin and business savvy. I never thought I'd ever find any one the caliber of Simpson again-and here he is. And exactly like Simpson, he loves patterns. He is bummed he can't get the gold Amazonian set from Simpson.

Yes, we have a name for Simpson. That one I can not say. And we did say it to him and lived another day!

Laura, I certainly don’t have the budget of Black Cat, but we do a lot of business together. What’s a guy gotta do to get a nickname?

Also, I second the request for some lion cat pics.

I'm not going to tell you how I got my nickname, but it had nothing to do with spending a lot of money.

I’m just going to throw this out there. I do like a good T-Bone steak. You might even call me...

This set is pretty impressive. Not only it is amazing that the entire set is PCGS POP 1/0, CAC, but they also have very consistent toning. You better view quickly because Mama Cat may make him put it away.

The toning is not so consistent in hand - varies quite a bit

Never ask a guy named “Round House” how he got his name, or Throat Chop or Death Grip, you get the point.

    Also,
I would think that for every nice coin out there that is known about, there are a dozen you don’t or haven’t seen yet. Goes for a lot of other things too. I’m sure some folks that have been at this a while have a better idea from sheer experience, that’s what one way it makes them a better dealer or collector. I bet there are may people setting on things out of privacy concerns for one.

I thought "coin weenie" and/or "chatroom genius" was a nickname that applied to all of us. I guess she thinks those cover it. >:)o:)

The 77 is a little darker, but you did a great job of assembling not only this set but also the larger. Did you find some of these raw, or cross some of them from NGC. It turned out really nice.

BC wants insurance even tho he has me. Nothing wrong w/that.

Trust me, we miss no coins of substance.

I guess no 1804 dollars or pretty much any other ultra rarities for him.

    76-CC PCGS
    77-CC NGC 65
    78-CC NGC 66

@specialist Which one is the "super secret buyer" (paraphrase) you write about in your older reports? I seem to recall Hedgie making appearances there too.

  • specialistspecialist Posts: 956 ✭✭✭✭✭

No, Hedgie staying home even tho he is sort of local. Wants to stay under radar. I'll have enough of "names" show up to drive me nuts. The Kitty is actually making an appearance.

The "super secret buyer" is a dealer who I expect to see tonight. Getting first/second shot is a big thing. The "secret stealth seller" as of last night did $325G in sales yesterday. Not bad for the first day. I think he will have a million dollar show.

Just 18 days away from the sale of the Olsen 1885 Trade Dollar. My memory is not so good, but I recall reading somewhere, that BC purchased the Eliasberg 1884. If that is true, then he could assemble the third complete proof trade dollar set. He will need to cross the 1884 from NGC to PCGS. The Olsen Specimen is currently $550,000, so there is a lot of room to go. If I have my facts correct, I hope BC will be the successful bidder. Good Luck.
