Pictures taken in B&M shop......!!!

Here's the story. At our local B&M shop, there's a bid board that closes every Saturday. During the week it's very hectic with lots of bidders. One particular individual who never bids on anything but likes to take pictures of the items on the board with his cell phone. I've seen him taking pictures of items on the board including my items. I explained to him that I didn't feel comfortable with him taking pictures of my items, especially since I don't know him. Any thoughts, or am I being too paranoid !!!
Thanks !!!

I mean, if there's not a bunch of other unknown people taking photos and it's the same guy over and over again I would start to wonder.

He sounds like he may be a little weird, but I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.
Just bring your phone and take pictures of him taking pictures.
See what he does.

I guess I'm going to have to get a phone to keep up with all the pervs/nerds/dealers/etc

Unless your personal information is associated with the coin or a similar situation, and the store owner permits photos in his store, there's little you can do except throw stink bombs every time the guy tries to photograph your coins. If the fellow is irritating customers, it's up to the store owner to act,
Just my two cents ...
If we were all the same, the world would be an incredibly boring place.

Where do you think that COIN PORN comes from?????
Why am I getting double posts?
I take pictures of silver at my local shop.
It's easier then writing everything down when I go to research the piece later.
Also I dont Waste the time of the shop keeper.

I'll bet he's from the IRS. They've been known to frequent auctions anonymously.
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
I too am having "issues" here tonight.

Successful Trades: Swampboy,
Maybe he is pre selling, If it sell for more he will bid if not he will pass. Just ask maybe he will tell you.
Hoard the keys.
If he was taking pictures of mustard stains, then I'd be worried.

Nice post!!!
I write down info but I can certainly see picture taking as a quick alternative. What's the harm?
I hate people taking pictures of their food.

Does seem a bit weird like a coin pervert, but could be innocent attempt to learn or ask someone else's advice, or could be something more nefaruous like he is listing on ebay as some have suggested. In that scenario, of course, it can only help you as the local seller.
Could also be that another collector or dealer wants the pics to decide if they want this guy to bid on their behalf.
Please let us know how it ends tomorrow @Timbuk3 ? Best of luck and I hope you sell most if not ALL of yours
There could be something going on, however, bid boards are open inventory and if not regulated by the store owner, there is nothing that can be done. Cheers, RickO
I haven't been to a coin store with a bid board in about twenty years... That was fun back in the day.

I take out my smart phone and in 2 seconds the photos are taken and back into my coveralls. It’s SO FAST NO BODY EVEN KNEW.
If there have never been any repercussions for you or other sellers, I'd say that it's much ado about nothing. What was his reply when you confronted him about it?
