Doily AND a RADAR serial number - what a combo!!! ![]()

"My friends who see my collection sometimes ask what something costs. I tell them and they are in awe at my stupidity." And no, I'm not the consignor......
Do people collect radar numbers on slabs? I did not know that.... Just no limit to what people will find to collect... Cheers, RickO
AND all those 8’s ........ especially significant for many.
Well, this opens up all kinds of opportunity. I'm going to stop worrying about what the coin is or its grade, I'm just going to buy them by serial number!!! [I hope there aren't any million dollar coins with serial numbers that I need!]
All comments reflect the opinion of the author, even when irrefutably accurate.
that is a great slab and the Grade is very solid.
Best place to buy !

Only thing to make it better is to have the date be 1881!

The coin is nice looking too!

Opening bid is twice the PCGS trends...see other thread(s) about paying extra for the holder.

Is this already in the Doily "Registry" or is it a discovery piece?

And a gold sticker appears to be in the works,
Quadri-fecta and a perfect storm for a committed (and committable) collector at somewhere under a $grand.
Radar
Huh?
Are you referring to the fact that many Asians consider the number 8 to be a lucky number?

Man, 1888 date would have really sealed the deal for me!
That is a pretty cool coin and great holder, and I learned what a radar serial number was. Winner is me.
Yes. Among other prosperous things associated with 8’s.
I actually got a 5oz Engelhard that happens to have a radar serial number.

Yes, there are people who collect by serial number.....
I check bills, but never thought of looking for special slab #'s. Maybe next trip to the sdb I'll look.
I bought a common date AU55 Liberty gold $5 in a small ANACS slab that had the serial number of 666666. I didn't care all that much about the coin but I liked that serial number. As far as buying it, you could say that the devil made me do it.
