1890 IHC Snow S-6

This is a second IHC variety that I believe is a Snow S-6 and would like your opinion. There is the top of a 9 or a 0 hiding in the denticles.
Thanks
Joe

most likely a 9
BHNC #203
Agreed with the 9
It could be either a 0 (Snow-4) or a 9 (Snow-6).
Unfortunately I can't find a photo comparison of the two - I only found photos for Snow-4.
The photos seem to match your coin.

@yosclimber it's pretty hard to see clearly since the 'digit' in low into the denticles. Thanks for your input.

@yosclimber I've having a hard time seeing any die crack on the reverse. Do both diagnostics have to be present to qualify as a Snow 4 or 6?

It would be hard to see the die crack, since it is in the leaf and your coin is relatively low grade.
The die crack is not required; it might not be present in early die states.
The MPD would always be present.
@yosclimber Thanks for the info. I think it's pretty cool and if not for another thread on IHC varieties I would have never know about or looked into this.

Interesting... So obvious when it is pointed out.... and yet, so easy to overlook unless one is doing a detailed examination.... Cheers, RickO
