For the old-timers: "Perry Mason - Case of the Wooden Nickels"

So, without looking it up, why would I mention this particular show/episode on this forum?
There can be 3 reasons.
Hint: One of them is the name we call a certain group of people, that is mentioned in the show.
The other 2 reasons....they're pretty specific so I won't give a hint other than "it isn't what is mentioned in the title"

Note: As I watch it on TV right now.. there could be a few extra "correct" answers......but 2 of them really stuck out to me, and 1 of them is central to the show.
I bet RickO can get it...and likely DerryB....those guys probably remember when this episode first came out

I use to watch PM also....but do not remember anything about "wooden nickels".
I still watch Perry Mason (re-runs) a couple of times a week but I don't remember the "wooden nickels episode". Anyway, the only numismatic term I can relate Perry Mason to is a "three dollar bill".
Was that the episode about the Confederate coin and counterfeits? I dimly recall that one, the details are gone from memory.... Cheers, RickO
Perry Mason - "The Case of the Wooden Nickels"
This episode must have been shown on television recently.
It was a pretty interesting 1964 episode from the numismatic standpoint.
The plot involved substituting replicas for original rare coins, the selling of a Confederate Half Dollar, and eccentric coin collectors.
There are some scenes of the traditional downtown small cramped coin shop, and a wealthy collector's displays.
The Confederate Half Dollar from the show
The coin is probably a replica that is sold to tourists at Civil War historic sites
Some other coins from the episode.
They appear to be two United States Morgan Silver Dollars, a Continental Silver Dollar,
an Italian coin of Victor Emmanuel II, and a Mexican Josefa 5 Centavos coin.

That was the one. Good for not looking it up
Main protagonist, as I saw him being the main one, was a "Numismatist", and had a shop.
He had the confederate half dollar.
Other main character (aside from normal cast) showed a 1913 nickel and gave accounting of it for Perry.

If you're interested in PM episodes they run twice a day on ME-TV (Memorable Entertainment Television). It's one of the digital sub channels created to fill the programming made available by the switch to digital.
Eccentric coin collectors, I'm sure no one here knows any of those.
Are there any coin collectors who AREN'T eccentric?

That episode was on last night or maybe this morning on METV, I was half asleep but recall it vaguely, plus PM is on about 4 times a day on METV

If you'll pardon a musical interlude, I was just talking about the Perry Mason theme last night after seeing Incredibles2.
The guy who wrote the score for that movie owes a lot to Henry Mancini.
