Clad quarter or damaged ?

Just got this 2014 d Virgina quarter. I'm wondering what's going on with it...?

    I washed it... And it's not coming off really but I see a difference in color. I think it may be altered .... But why would someone do that??! Hmm!

    Yikes. Trying to prove its real by damaging it. :o

    Could be accidental environmental damage.

    Photos are not good... but from what I think I see on the reverse is different shades of color.. why don't you retake the photos.

    Not much can be concluded from those pictures... You can weigh it... that would determine if the clad layer was missing... but really looks like it was laying in something that attacked the clad and discolored it. Cheers, RickO
