Current Collections that are Known and Over 20 years old
Recently there have been some great collections that came up for sale that featured fresh coins that had been off the market for 20 years plus. The AJ Vanderbilt sale, the Admiral collection of $10 Eagles, etc to name just a couple. My question are there any top tier collections that are public and have been held for over 20 years out there?

Time flies and 20 years is but a blink of an eye.
I agree with @Broadstruck! 20 years isn't that old.
Twenty years is a relatively short period of time - and when discussing coin collections, it is barely relevant. There certainly are many coin collections that fit the description in the OP....In fact, I would say, most major collections (not already marketed) would fit that time frame easily. Cheers, RickO
I realize there are many that fit that description privately but curious as to the public ones---Maybe Simpson. What others fit that description and are public?
Define public please. Cheers, RickO
I believe Simpson's activity in this hobby as a major player is still just under or around the 1 decade mark?
Major collections that are public would be Hansen's collection (which is a couple years old I believe) or to a lesser degree now the Tyrant Collection (the collector is not public but he has made his collection known and is beginning to display it). Collections that are known to the general collecting population rather than just insiders.
From the lack of response---I think this confirms my initial suspicion. There are very few major public collections that are more than 20 years old. The only current one that may fall into that category that I know about is the Tyrant Collection (but I am not sure when it was started). I think there are many major collections that have been held for longer than 20 years---but they are not generally known and kept private (unlike the Hansen collection, etc.). I initially thought about this because it seems we always have these auctions where collections are sold with fresh coins having not traded hands in decades and it is the first time they have come to light.
20 years is nothing....
There are private collections that have not been touched in 100 years, or more. The owners know what they have and do not care to sell.
