Politics and Coins are a Bad Mix

BuffaloIronTailBuffaloIronTail Posts: 7,543 ✭✭✭✭✭

This is NOT the place for political beliefs or discussions regarding left or right wing beliefs.

This is a coin board. Plain and simple.

Vent somewhere else.

Coins have nothing to do with it. It has to do with people who just can't control the drool that comes out of their mouths.

    Just sayin'...

I don’t think you’ll ever be successful separating the two. They’ve even managed to put pictures of themselves on our coins, those sneaky politicians.

That may be true, or not, but coin forums should be out of bounds
to those who think that their political knowledge is far above that
possessed by the rest of us. It isn’t. There are forums for political
arguments and they should be used by those who have superior
political knowledge. Or think that they do.

  • KkathylKkathyl Posts: 3,762 ✭✭✭✭✭

agree. It will come up in current even discussion and a lot of the coins we collect are saturated in live debates of history. We should all just show respect and compassion for those who are of a different thought.

Good news is most of us old folks forget from day to day and so we don't hold any grudges.

Since a few months before the election, two of the major sites I've visited the last 30 years started cracking the whip and banning political flame war participants.

Suffice to say it worked out nicely and they're both better places for it, but I'd hate to see it happen here. Being banned from parts of Internet is the second dumbest thing next to political "discussions" that disrupt the every day ebb and flow of a message board.

Guess it depends whether you get your news
    from CNN or FNC . . .

Need the following OBW rolls to complete my 46-64 Roosevelt roll set:
    1947-P & D; 1948-D; 1949-P & S; 1950-D & S; and 1952-S.
Any help locating any of these OBW rolls would be gratefully appreciated!

I disagree. I learn from folks who are more informed than I both in politics and coins. IMO, one of the best discussions on this board took place with a discussion of the Stone Mt 50 cents and everything they represent. It lead us to discuss US history and CSA monuments.

    This.

Choice of topics. Sometimes choice of metals or suppliers of the metal (think Palladium coins). All very political.

People don't like to have their bubble burst. This is not a self-confirming forum. There are people here who don't share your views, news or facts. Because of that, feelings will get hurt when you shine a light on their beliefs. That is why politics and religion are usually best to be off-limits on forums not dedicated for either.
