1987 D error

Hello I was just wondering if someone could identify what is going on here I will buy an error book in a week or two but was wondering why the 7 looks as if it has a remnant of the 7 and the trust looks punched in in the corner thanks

I am guessing die deterioration. I do see the things that you are referring to, but I have seen similar effects many times.

Yep...looks like some die deterioration combined with wear on a 31 year old coin.... Glad to hear you are getting an error book - the CPG? Cheers, RickO
