2018 Lincoln Cent anomaly

Is this just a reflection or a machine doubling or what. It is not visible with my eyes. I was just playing around with a junk microscope I have and took this out of my pocket and first I noticed the notch in the 8 and then other oddities, such as the B in LIBERTY. It took me 10 minutes to get these. The microscope has to be adjusted by freehand in order to get the pics. I am sure it is not a doubled die, but it looks different with the microscope. Just curious.

I'm thinking worn dies?
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
Did you spot the notches in hand first or under the microscope first?
Almost any coin will show "something odd" under a microscope. When you see it without magnification you may have something of value if not pmd. Like the 55 dd. Can't miss that.
Either way it’s a cool pic
Nice work, Jim.
I don't care about the value, just the different look. I noticed the 8 and that's when I dug out the microscope. I think perhaps it is an image issue with the microscope and not really doubling at all. But the B in liberty looks so far separated from the real B. Hey its found in change, doesn't have to be worth anything but 1 cent. Nothing gained and nothing lost. lol

As I was finishing off a roll of nickels just now it occurred to me that it is very educational to go through tons and tons of coins. After a while the ones that are actually special will jump out at you.
This sort of repetition leads to a familiarity that really helps. I can date some nickels from the reverse, at least the decade and sometimes to the year, because I am so familiar with certain design and striking variations.
I found a couple questionable ones that I set aside for further study because they looked a bit off but it was not due to normal wear or damage that I have become so familiar with.
What about the 2 and 0 ?
Can I borrow a cup of patience please? I burn out after FB searching 3 rolls of dimes.
Ahhh. You're looking too closely. Look for dates with established varieties, old coins, and obvious errors. Volume volume volume. Spend a second or less per coin. Good training for becoming a coin grader.
Interesting pictures... Does the anomaly also appear if you just use a magnifying glass or loupe? If not, then it is an issue with your equipment. If it does, well, then we need to explore a bit further... Cheers, RickO

With a loupe, I see just the doubling, all to the right, with no abnormalities with the 8 or the B. So it is machine doubling, I would believe.

@jesbroken ...Thanks for the response... I figured the loupe might change the appearance a bit... Cheers, RickO
