Don't know much about the minor ones but cool!
Seems they were having all sorts of trouble hubbing that year, there are like 9 or 10 known DDOs for '72. Several would be major if not for the big one.
That does indeed appear to be a die 3. 1972 is a lot of fun for double die searching. I've had many of them all except I've never had a die 4. A few guys on here have had many of that one.
I did not know I only had 2 photos posted guys! When I get back to the house I will upload the appropriate pictures! Indeed they are a blast and many are floating around. 72 is a year for all stages to come out of the wood works
Once of my favorite varieties. I found one in circulation as a kid around 1980. It's the coin that got me into collecting/dealing in varieties. It's also the first coin I ever submitted for grading. We took it to Alamo Heights Coin Shop in San Antonio shortly after I found it, and they recommended I send it to ANACS for a photo certificate, and my mom paid to have it done. If you would have told me then that I would one day work for ANACS, I wouldn't have believed you!

I still have several of this die that I cherried back in '72, along with several others of dies number 2 and 8 also cherried at that time. I looked and looked for die number 1 but to no avail.

I remember that shop! It was always a “should have been here yesterday/last week” trip for me when I visited there

That's where all of my coins came from when I was a kid. I still have some of them. The shop closed a while back, but Butch, the owner, is still around and sets up at my shows.
