GTG - 1962 Proof Franklin Cracked and Crossed

hutze1nmhutze1nm Posts: 235 ✭✭✭

Starting holder: slightly older NGC (I really don't know what Gen it was)

Current holder: ICG

Guess both grades if you like

Things I like to do: Collect PL Morgans. That’s is all.

I'm assuming that giant scratch is on the plastic. PF 68 (at most) and definitely NOT a Deep Cam. Actually iffy at cam on the reverse.

Looks like a nice cameo but 1962 is generally pretty easy to find in cam. Really hard to tell from the pics but I'd say 68 cam.
Nothing against ICG but why did you cross from NGC?

I bought it on a lark for 38 bucks And I really wasn’t looking to spend a Bunch money to get it re-graded in case I was wrong

Why did you bother to have it regraded? I don't see any upside potential here.

But if you were right you would have a coin in ICG plastic. :o

And for that matter being "right" with ICG is not the same as being "right" with NGC or PCGS, no?

I really like and trust ICG more than NGC or ANACS. Just my opinion. Best customer service and best turn times around.

I don't doubt your assessment, especially if you have had experience with all three since I have not. But, everything I have ever heard leads me to think that if you ever go to sell that coin it will bring less than it would have in an NGC holder. But, maybe that is not a factor in your case.

If the nose scratch is on the holder, I'll guess 68 cameo on a good day.
    Not dcam IMHO.

Proofs are very tough to grade from a picture.
    But I will say N66-I68
    Both cams.

As long as you enjoy it, that's all that matters !!! :)

I would say 67 CAM.... Really hard to move between 67/68 when judging a picture of a coin in a slab... I would tend to the lower grade guess... and really, it could be 68 in hand. Cheers, RickO

I was going to say 67 DCAM, but upon closer review, I don't think the fields are deep enough for DCAM, 67 CAM.

  • WoodenJeffersonWoodenJefferson Posts: 6,491 ✭✭✭✭

I, would have kept it in the NGC plastic myself, but that's your prerogative. I'm sure IG bumped it a grade and perhaps added the CAM designation. Nice coin.
