CU 8 Digit Ladder Note Question

A couple of questions regarding ladder notes and TPGs.

I have a 2009 CU stack of 50 notes from SN# 23456751 – 2345800, which includes 23456789. Conservatively, I’m estimating they’re MS64-65. (I don’t have enough experience to determine if they are PPQ and the centering is so-so). I plan on getting the full ladder graded. Assuming they are MS64 with no premium designations:

  • Recommendations on a preferred TPG (I’m well versed on TPGs for coins but not paper)?

  • Are the 7 digit ladders (SN# 2345678x) worth grading if they're in the 64-65 range or just sell them raw on ebay?

  • Do the 6 digit ladders (SN#234567xx) have any collector interest in CU? Bulk lot them on ebay or just spend?

  • Is there any advantage of selling the 50 note pack together versus piecing out the 8 and 7 digit ladders?

My phone/camera isn’t good enough to provide a clear pic for grading opinions, so I’m not even going try.

Thanks for the help

You would get more knowledgeable responses if you post this on the currency forum....

I am guessing the only real note of any value is the ladder - I am not sure partials have a lot of value or at least not enough to justify grading.

PCGS Currency has their own separate, paid membership between coin and paper. PMG, which is in cahoots with NGC, and they only require membership with the ANA or direct membership and it covers submittal privileges for both coin and paper. Those are the only two paper grading companies that I am familiar with.

Agreed on the sole ladder note being of value.

The partial ladders will have some slight premium

Not enough to have them graded though.
Just depends if you want to fool with them at $4-5 each.

Well, this is informative. I do not collect currency (outside of bills I keep for Liars Poker ;) )....and I did not know the sequential numbers were called a 'ladder'...I would say, just my opinion, that the one note with a full ladder is the only one worth keeping/selling. I only look at currency for numbers with several repeating digits... for the above mentioned reason. I guess I may be missing some good bills - Oh well, I have enough to keep me busy with coins and firearms and caves and decks of cards and marbles..... :D:D Cheers, RickO

I have some fancy number notes, mainly repeaters and radars, but no ladders.

I probably should heed my own advice and send in my "nicer" fancy serial numbers in for grading.
