Are you talking about the ghosting around the numbers in the date? Machine doubling or more likely die fatigue. This sort of effect is common on zinc cents and sometimes other coins.
I see a large die polish line under the date. Is that what you are talking about?

It's called post mint damage.

The indentations in the date are caused by circulation damage... the coin did not come from the mint in that condition. Cheers, RickO
