Starting a new collection.....

ms70ms70 Posts: 13,956 ✭✭✭✭✭

For years I've been working on solely half dimes and I'm down to the tough to find varieties.....

So to entertain myself until they come along, I'm starting on 3¢ Silver Trimes. I've always been attracted to our small silver coinage because I love how intricate the designs are. I'm not going to go crazy, I'm just going to assemble a simple, low cost date set..... At least that's my current intention.... LOL...

So to kick it off, I picked up this well worn but lovable PCGS G06 example today:

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

I’ve always thought those were cool. I agree, having a side interest can really help keep one patient in the core collection.

Ms70, one of the first coins I ever had in my collection was a 3 cent piece. Don't know where it came from. 1853. I showed it to my cousin. I never saw it again. Last I heard he was working in a muffler shop in Gardnerville , Nevada and his wife was doing time in the state pen for God only knows what. You get what you deserve. He got his.

Well that's a road less traveled, for sure.
You may quickly discover (or already realize) that a handful of dates are common, many others less so, and most of the later dates almost impossible.

He is one of the few specialists (at least that I know of) in this series, and I'm sure you can learn a lot from him. And he always has candy at his table at shows :)
