Hey, it's Saturday. We're all friends here. At least we should be. People like to share. Communicate. Not enough of that today. Take it where you can get it. I like the long rambling posts. That's how we get to know each other better. It's a good thing.

It only bothers me on a long thread when 17 people have given the identical answer/joke/complaint because they didn't read the prior 16.

...as you just did in the PNG thread.
Well, I missed ONE prior comment and I owned up to it immediately. I generally try to read the entire thread before I comment, but I missed that comment on my first go through. Many of our brethren don't seem to read the threads at all. How many GTG have you seen where people are still guessing after the OP has posted the answer?
You, of course, don't ever make mistakes so you probably don't know what it's like to actually be human.
I read all the posts on threads I open - I do not open all threads since the title seems to indicate I would have no interest in the subject. Even after opening threads, I do not comment on some....just nothing to add... Sometimes when I do post, it is just in the form of acknowledgement, which I deem appropriate. Cheers, RickO
not everybody reads threads the same way . If you bring up the forum and see a thread that says 150 new posts most people are not going to read them all . Another thing is a lot of people quote huge walls of text from other posters and add only 1 or 2 lines which might get missed entirely.
Basically people need to edit quoted text down to a manageable level. If someone posts 3 paragraphs and you want to reply to one sentence then just quote that sentence not the wholly mess. Who wants to reread the same drivel 10 times in a row?
I notice that the historical and educational posts get the least attention and few thank you's for the effort. I like entertainment too, but really like the education which I am sure many of you think I need, and you are right.
Comments
I prefer cliffsnotes posts

That is the classic example.
Smitten with DBLCs.
I am batting 1.000 on those!
