Re: CACG Slabs (how are they shaking out in the market price wise ?)
I recently saw a You Tube video where certain dealers were irate, accusing CAC of returning to 1986 grading standards, and basically saying they can't afford to have all their crossovers returned as "cleaned" by CAC, so they wont submit to them anymore. Most of the coins were circulated type silver such as Seated coinage that appeared to be unhairlined but dove grey and acceptable to PCGS but not to CAC.
Re: Show us what will probably be your last coin purchase for 2024
I have a couple of items that interest me in auction, but since I won't get those in 2024 if I am successful, this is my last coin, the Northumberland shilling. Sorry, it's not American.
This piece was made for some silver that was captured from the Spanish. The earl of Northumberland ordered 2,000 pieces to be made for circulation in Ireland. The total mintage was more like 100,000, but the coin is still scarce and popular. This piece was issued in 1763. The British would not issue another shilling, which was an important coin in their monetary system, until 1787. That gap was symbolic of the disfuntional monetary system under King George III.
I have been looking for one of these coins for about a year. The angle shot is provided to show the luster. The piece is PCGS graded MS-64.

This has been on my list for awhile - I was quite pleased to purchase earlier this week. Not a coin though - sorry!
I image that you probably know that this is a considered to be a pro-southern, copperhead Civil War token. The "Live and let live" message with the agricultural products was a subtle call for the North to end the war and let the South go in peace.
Re: 230th Anniversary Flowing Hair High Relief Gold Coin (24YG)
This coin is a beaut, no doubt about it. So far, no series type for 2025. Would not be surprised if 2026 has one or two.

A couple of pickups to come in over the last few days.

My last purchase was very humble. Business is slow for me this time of year.
Looking forward to next year though!
