DeVonta Smith with a game-losing drop
seems like every time something like that happens, there's always repercussions. a player rarely makes an egregious mistake like that and the team lives to tell the tale

Great PO01’s. It’s always interesting to me how you can have so much wear on some coins and the MM stands out like a sore thumb on some of them
Re: Ouch! 1904-S High Grade Circulated Barber Half Dollar Cutout Jewelry. Fair Warning!
OUCH! For goodness sakes, of all the dates to experiment on, the 1904-s is not the one! Although given the rarity of many mint marked Barber halves, you would be taking chances with most of them! I'm guessing that was a pretty damn nice EF-45 coin prior to the butcher job. Nice EF coin worth around $4,000. today.

My collection was cleaned out in a robbery about 7 years ago. I started to rebuild it when a friend suggested a set of quarter eagle gold indians. Only 15 coins and only one key date that wouldn’t break the bank.
I started and finally finished this year with the key 1911d.Happy ending and I like my collection better - have expanded into British coins now.
I assembled this set in the late 1980s. It's still raw.
Congratulations on staying with the hobby after you were robbed. It would be tough to start over.
Re: Capital Holder Restoration - The After Results Are Done
Great job - thx for sharing.
Even if you could have bought a new case for a reasonable amount it was still worth the effort because Capitol made lots of custom cases that can't be replaced, so it's good practice.
Replacement screws are east to get online, so you can easily replace those yellowed (and probably brittle) ones if you wanted to.
Re: Capital Holder Restoration - The After Results Are Done
davewesen, yes, if you use a polishing kit and compound as OAKSTAR did, the improvement will be permanent. There are a variety of plastic polishing kits on the market, and they can all do a nice job of restoration. There's headlight polishing kits and the like -- I really like the Novus polishes -- there's Novus #1 and #2, and Novus #3 for tackling deeper scuffs.
Overall, any of them will show a dramatic improvement -- about the only thing un-fixable is a flaw that goes well beyond the surface of the plastic -- i.e. a deep gouge or crack going all the way through. Otherwise, a good polishing compound treatment can really surprise you!
Re: Sizeable losses for nice Fairmont coins tonight.
The deepend of the pool is where most people drown. Big release sales of fresh stuff is ripe with pitfalls as the Real opportunities bring big bucks and others end up paying opportunity costs for stuff that is not as special. People will claim it was a different market but these sales often make the market and months later sellers are fishing for the underbidders. Not always the case but many times.
While rarer dates and better than avg preservation & coloration. Fairmont was a lot of really pricey gold for the market to absorb considering that there aren’t many set collectors out there and most need rare type buyers. Dealer credit lines sometimes do to well publicized auctions what easy car loans at dealers do to car prices..

You should be able to easily find all those on eBay, Collectors Corner and Great Collections.I want to see them in person at a show.
In that case, I recommend looking at the FUN show website for the list of dealers attending and then going to dealer websites to browse inventory. If you find something interesting on a dealer website, send the dealer an email and ask them to bring it to FUN so that you can check it out. On some dealer websites you can also create want lists and receive an email notification if they have something on your list. I have done both with success in the past and it's also a good way to start new dealer relationships.
Re: Are Zip-Lock bags made for food preservation PVC free?
I think my zip-lock bags are safe. So I will keep my coins in them. They are all silver coins and all are also inside mylar sleeves.
One last thing the bags I am using give off no odour at all.
