Are we thinking thats an 8 ?
That's what I'm thinking after enlarging the area around the date... it's listed in the Cert Verification page as a 1959-D, but I think I'm seeing the lower loop of an 8 off the the right of where metal has been displaced...

Sorry I missed them. I am a fan of quarter eagles.
Re: The 1942 Type 2 Jefferson nickel in Proof: does it matter if the steps aren't completely full?
I’m probably in the minority, but as long as the strike is decent enough to properly display the design (I collect type), the only “full” designation I care about is the head on the SLQ. Minutiae on the reverse are of no interest to me.

That's incredible Shane - have ya got a pic of the packaging?
I think Target may do a better job sending me soap.

Re: Are these real? 1971 Topps FB cellos
No doubt some breaker will buy them and sell spots for $150 a spot.
Re: Lincolns before 1982..... are they worth saving ?
After years of research and speaking with top-notch numismatists:
"Are Lincoln Cents dated before 1982 worth saving?"
Some, yes.
Most, no.
Re: Is this anything special?
I've been through a couple hundred thousand nickels, and in regard to errors, I found a couple minor cuds worth saving, a very minor clip or two, and some minor chipped dies. None of those are worth more than a few dollars each.
I did find one spectacular error coin, a double struck nickel worth a few thousand dollars or more, but that was a billions-to-one chance.
Searching coins can be relaxing or fun, but if your time could or should have been spent doing something else, then it's not the least bit profitable. And if you are going to look for errors you must know what you are looking for and speed is important. Agonizing over every strange-looking coin makes it a futile effort, unless it is a learning experience where the lessons are learned quickly.
