Re: How do I remove the blemish on this Blanchard slab?
Looks like the plastic slab is soluble in acetone or some other solvent that was dripped on it, chemically etching itself into the slab. I don't think there's anything that can be done there without making it worse...
Re: Opinions / Toning or Missing Layer
It can't be missing a layer as it is nearly 100% silver.

This is the first year I've bought from Tauler Fau. The export license must be a new requirement, as it wasn't required previously. The last coin I bought from another firm was Soler y Llach when it did not apply. I haven't documented the delivery timeframe, but the above is within my recollection.
Cayon was doing it 10+ years ago, and it indeed made shipments take approx. 2 months... the other Spain houses generally did not. Maybe the gov't is applying some pressure.
Re: Auction house delivery times
Notice how the export license only costs for non-EU folks? It seems to be a money grab since non-EU folks don't owe VAT on their coins.
Re: Pillar dollar 1743 year, Mexico, genuine
The thing is that Aureo has seen it in person and we have not.
I still think it's fake, but would love to be proven wrong.
Please have it certified and show us the result.
Re: Closing up my hunt for the Deseret Lion - The final Mormon design
Great post, great story, great coin!
Congrats.
Re: How do I remove the blemish on this Blanchard slab?
Is this a tough slab to obtain? I ask mainly because one must be concerned about making it worst as Braddick wrote.
Re: The Cheerios Dollar is perhaps he best almost affordable, modern sleeper / buyer coin.
Since the US Mint is getting off on striking older designs in gold, I am a bit surprised they have not struck Sac dollars in gold of a "current" date....
I always wanted a true pattern-type Cheerios dollar coin but felt the prices just too high to justify.
