I do agree with you that they don't worry "over a few unhappy campers." I sincerely hope you do not join their ranks if the missing medals and coins make a future appearance in another product. Because I think that is a distinct possibility, as opposed to their leaving money on the table to support the secondary market, and not reducing Mintage Limits to reflect that decision. Is there any precedent for this being done in the past ?
It's one thing to strike more coins than announced when the item is first released....but to create NEW coins months or years later would seem moronic. The amount of $$$ generated for The Mint relative to the size of the black eye their reputation would get would seem to me to be not worth it.
The Mint has always struck various medals over the course of years. Of course, those did not have mintage limits,
Re: Saturday morning coffee with coins
Man, I'm gone for one week, and I see all my pals have been busy posting the usual fare of World-Class coinage! This is the best thread on the forum. I still can't stop admiring the shots that @flyingal took last week.....4 eagles for your weekend viewing!
Re: 2024 college football thread
The committee better start caring about strength of schedule now that we have super conferences where a mediocre team like Indiana can avoid the good teams and pretend to be good. That game was horrendous. ND literally didnt even play the 4th quarter and was just waiting for the clock to run out
Re: CACG Slabs (how are they shaking out in the market price wise ?)
From what I have seen CACG prices are on par or higher than similar graded PCGS coins.
Re: How do I remove the blemish on this Blanchard slab?
Sure looks like acetone damage. Likely applied with a cotton swab to remove some other deposit/adhesive. Plastix or similar scratch remover is about the only thing I might try to possibly improve the look to some degree, at least on the smooth portion of the slab. But... it is what it is,... ...a damaged slab. Not all things can be completely fixed.
