looks pretty funny to me. especially when i think about the noobies that made these thinking they would fool anyone but the most novice of numismatists.

2013/reverse of 2007
ended listings
one - two
this seller really cleaned house.
look at the tips of those 9s. yowza.
gotta love that mm shape. >< - this sellers ended listings. plenty of very questionable sold listings.
looks like a lot of inheritances possibly going down the drain.
this should be centered over a gap, not a dentil. only 1 obv die position known.
these look off too. darn lighting is making it hard to tell. since the items are going to end real soon, here is the ended listings link for this seller. the items will show up here.
whatta deal
the date and the date
in case you didn't see this beauty
bad barber dime and possibly the morgan cc listings

Ebay needs more than one report before they will nuke an item. If you add them to, or start a thread here, usually enough people report them to get them nuked.. One report will not do it.
I shall keep trying.
<< <i>The Eagle listing might just be a image problem. Lot of leeway in the "Bullion" listings. I have seen a lot of stock type images used there. >>
Then it was a 2013 with a 2007 reverse AND a completely different reverse than any other ASE I've ever seen...
Did you actually LOOK at the coin before commenting?
heritage link to the real one
link
besides undergraded
besides an obviously fake holder
besides a real one in heritage to look at
it's in someone's registry set.

The guy has others up
He admits they aren't mint errors later.
He could have slight description and category changes.
oh sister
seller sold this, looks questionable
a trend i am seeing more and more mix fakes with authentics
so alice, how deep does the rabbit hole go?
a little deeper

love those 8s

oh look, it has a cousin

counterfeits i think, were the furthest thing from my mind but alas, here are some. funny thing is, when i saw that stock pcgs image, i thought, hmmm, usually something is awry when one of those is being used, maybe i should look around. voilà
uno - dos - tres - cuatro - cinco
another good strategy is not to list collectable errors like that 3 1/2 legger in the title to see if it will fly through the system undesignated but still get a premium.
.
moved from an incorrect thread.
not a fakie but wanted to post this in an existing ebay thread.
i'm not sure how far back these go but i have this many on my main account which is in great standing:
68 cases have been closed
21 cases closed - you received Final Value Fee credits
does that sound high? 1+ per month for 5 years straight lol
ebay took it upon themselves to increase my selling limits to: $52,500 monthly and/or 870 items, whichever comes first.
for this account:
Total sales amount: $66,154.56 - i bet there are many members that have monthly wine budgets that exceed this. ><
Total transactions: 1609
Date of first sale: Mar 6, 2009
Member since: Feb-07-09 - 1,892 days
the earliest account active i have is Jul-16-06 - 2,829 days
since i am 13,051 days old, that is between 1/4 and 1/5 of my life. i think 4.61 to be close to precise.
i recall trying to sign up around 01-02 or so but i wasn't very tech savvy and it seemed like signing up was quite a chore then although i wouldn't have that information for login now. hmm maybe i should call and ask if any actually went through?
here is another account
Total sales amount: $42,409.67
Total transactions: 1168 - only 770 feedback number though. a lot of multi-sales and/or no feedback. yowza.
Date of first sale: Aug 8, 2010

these are said to be homemade in the descripton
I see where it could use the word "fantasy" in the title and description before words like error and mule, plus a category change, but the seller is pretty up otherwise about them being constructed.

i agree with you that they really aren't miscategorized but kinda are and/or aren't being nefarious in the listing process but when i see these things as well as the designated AT coins, i really, really would like to get them out of the main coin categories just so i don't have to see them. that "junk" should go in the other/fantasy etc categories all day long imo.
i've lobbied hard against sellers that list AT toned coins even when called out but ebay hasn't budged an inch. so long as the seller has a disclaimer, ebay is ok with it.
also, i do put sellers as i come across them on my ebay seller blocked list so i don't have to see them that way.
i have a strong suspicious it is also illegal to modify these coins like this but i am for sure not going that far with it.

some very nice silver dcam commems.

Pretty brazen, and a fake sob story to boot (cancer, yeah right...). A zero feedback seller, too - incredible that it has a bid.

Anyone save pictures of it?
<< <i>Anyone save pictures of it? >>
Sorry, I guess I should have. It was a regular older blue label holder with the circular insert (not prongs). The label fonts were off and the raised PCGS lettering at the lower right of the slab was also off, particularly the "C" and the "S". The picture wasn't the sharpest, but it was clear to me the coin was fake - the date looked wrong and the rims and dentils were poorly formed. It also had a "flashy base metal" luster that so many of the freshly minted ones have. However, the CAC sticker (green) could have been real - it looked good to me, but I really haven't had enough exposure to them to say either way. The seller could have easily slapped it on himself. If I were a betting man, I'd guess he'll try to relist it again in the near future. I'll be sure to grab a pic then...
Cheers,

<< <i>That's the one! How did you retrieve it?
And thanks for posting the pic!
my ebay counterfeit seller/image tracking section of my database is 3,643 files in 756 folders as of 4-16-14. i found it beneficial to have a lot of images of counterfeits/altered coins/holders, so i made it a point to collect a lot of them.
actually if more people knew how to perform a basic task like sharing and/or coordinating here on the forum, the folder would probably be 50k images easy. too much to ask of people apparently.
mr.morrisine gave a valiant effort to the counterfeit cert tracking thread though and a couple others made modest contributions.
hell, come to think about it, my biggest contributor was booted from the forum 2x. go figure.
edited to add:
a great contribution that was applicable for counterfeit detect was from RWB when he forwarded some info all the way from ATS!
2nd edited to add:
since i'm on a whiny roll, did that counterfeit detection dvd from M.F. ever come about?
.
he was overly aggressive in the naru.
then there was the bad judgment of not disappearing before the 2x.
This is pretty scary. Anyone alerted CAC about the sticker issue? That could be a problem.

isn't that hard to ignore someone. i managed to make a fair amount of progress amidst the chaos and the exuberance while over-the-top was not unmanageable.
maybe the people complaining felt insecure because they weren't doing anything and saw someone else trying to?
heck we even got that person to start posting into one thread 99%. kind of a moot point now though.
anyone else care to take that person's place and compensate for the loss of contributions?
.
<< <i>Can't tell much about the 89 from the pics posted here. Does look a bit fishy, but all the cert #'s match and the CAC verification match.

the 2 giveaways are the font of the letters/numbers and how nice the coin is. a common problem amongst the turds is they are usually far above the grade stated (in holders)
there are a few other ways i've thought of that someone could use to create more chaos with counterfeits/holders but thankfully i haven't seen them yet that i am aware of. it is inevitable i am willing to be though.
where there is a will....

Repeated from my earlier post for those that missed it, here's why deemed it fake:

imo, i would say it is a probably a real holder that had a cac sticker that was split and the insert and coin inserted? i didn't do a comp of the part of the holder you referred to and thinking that they are now producing cac stickers is something my mind isn't ready to accept i think?
.
I wasn't aware that you could remove a CAC sticker intact. Has anyone been able to prove that can be done?

Maybe with careful use of a razor blade??? If I had a cheap coin with a sticker I would try it, but I don't...
