I had no idea that Laura Sperber was the Legend spokesperson.
Congrats to Sunnywood, Legend, and the unnamed buyer.

In my experience, this is NOT always the case with coins that are extremely high grade, but not all there for the grade.
your marketing skills are also superb!
Beach was an experience I will always remember fondly. Thanks to Sunnywood for putting it together, and
for his generosity in sharing it through exhibits and images with the collecting community at large. Also, a
big congratulations to the new owner. If I had won the lottery, it might have been me!
<< <i>So I wonder what Sunnywood's next adventure in collecting will be. >>
There seems to be a lot of good deals on the B-S-T and BING dollars can go along way

and including only the finest toners around.
Congrats SunnyWood, it was fantastic meeting you at FUN last year, seeing your collection, and I can't wait what your next adventure will be
I wish Doug good luck.
<< <i>This set will always be remembered. I always admired Doug's collecting skill but this set placed him among the upper echelon, in my book.
I wish Doug good luck.
Maybe his next adventure will be syrupy Saints. Better hope that check he's getting clears fast
I also hear that there is a Double Denomination, Cent struck on Dime planchet that's being offered for only 10 million if he really wants to step up to the plate .

I think most collectors who avidly pursue colorfully toned silver don't have much of a fascination with gold,
for obvious reasons...
On another note, except for investment purposes, why would someone buy a complete collection? Isn't building the set what it's all about?
<< <i>I have to admit to being a bit sad at reading the news.....I really am a coin geek
<< <i>I am sure we will here from Speety soon, boy doesn he and his father get around
I will stay quiet on this issue... Just saying, Thanks Sunnywood!
Haha but only for letting me see the fascinating images, i'm shocked he decided to sell though!
I have no specific plans to start a new collecting endeavor just yet, and will probably take a break from the hobby before making any decision or embarking on any new project.
For me the thrill is in building the sets. But imagine having such resources that instead of buying individual top-quality coins to build a set, you could buy individual top-quality sets to build a monumental collection ... the private collector who purchased the collection is a privileged individual who does just that. (Sorry I cannot comment any further about the buyer or the transaction.)
Every now and then I like to remind myself that people and experiences are more important than material things. As much as I love the coins, I have also enjoyed the collecting community and all the great people I have met along the way. The coins may be gone, but the experiences and friendships always remain.
Thanks again everyone,
Sunnywood

Incredible to say, aside from those remaining consignment coins at Legend, I no longer own any Morgan dollars

Finally wised up, eh?
I can only imagine that it must have been a very tough decision to let that set go, but congrats to Sunnywood on the sale.

Well said......
<< <i>Everything was sold intact including duplicates and triplicates, except for a group of coins that I had already separately consigned to Legend before the deal was even under consideration. That is why they have a handful of Sunnywood coins in their retail inventory. It got too complicated to put those coins back into the collection for the deal, so I let Legend keep those coins on consignment. Those are the only remaining Sunnywood coins that will ever be available individually.

Congratulations Doug, both for patiently, lovingly and painstakingly assembling the set, and for selling it. But I must correct one thing you said

This just doesn't seem right. Give me your address and I'll send you one.

2) An end of an era
3) I take it the buyer doesn't post here and the pictures of his coins won't be happening (ie...only current pics will be available and no new pics coming?)
I've enjoyed your breakdown of toning and mrogans and the pics you have brought to the table.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

That thread is from 2002! Clearly, a light came on at some point thereafter...
Congratulations, Doug.
That is a great set of Morgans you assembled and I had wished to
have viewed them in person, but I am thankful that you have the
link to the collection in your signiture line. The same goes for your
Barber Quarter collection [ I was hoping to make a planned detour
to visit your Quarter collection on my way up to Cape Cod].
What ever collection is your next target, I'm sure you'll assemble
another envious set.
Again, it was my pleasure to have had lunch with you at the PCGS
luncheon last January at FUN. Hope to see you again this year.

Congrats on the sale Sunnywood, I never got to see your Morgans in person, only from the images on the set registry but kudos to you. Your set of Morgans was really amazing and one heck of an accomplishment. I hope you stick around the forum, your posts on toning have taught me an awful lot.
Congrats on not only building an amazing set but also on the sale.
