No, I only want one at face value and don't what to pay S&H. I think the coins are too ugly and only want to look at one for three seconds and then spend it.
Orders are limited to two boxes ($500) per President.
I wonder why they put a limit on a coin no one wants ? In fact, my bank told me that they have to order 500 coins MINIMUM and there has been ZERO demand, so they WILL NOT get any.
No. I get two rolls from my local bank when released and put them into circulation. Since the start of the prez bucks I have never received one in change.
If Denver minted coins were available I would. But I suspect that all of these are Ps.
Regards, John
Need the following OBW rolls to complete my 46-64 Roosevelt roll set: 1947-P & D; 1948-D; 1949-P & S; 1950-D & S; and 1952-S. Any help locating any of these OBW rolls would be gratefully appreciated!
yeah - i'll try a box and hope I'll get "D" mintmark ones because I live on the east coast "P" mintmark area
maybe I'll find a MS68 and help my registry because those MS68 on ebay are a little too rich for my blood
most people were i've spent these gold dollar coins from my bank are 1) glad to get one or 2) no big deal - money is money
this week i spent 2 Madisons at a fast food place and the cashier was glad to see them and was persistently asking were did i get those from and i hesitated in saying the truth that i got them from the next door bank 400 yards away so as i steped away from the counter i noticed she took 2 dollar bills out of her pocket and those babies were going home with her i guess i made her day
"So wait after the Mint gets hit with the CC % charge and free shipping... aren't they losing money on this deal?"
No it cost the mint about 6.8 cents per presidental dollar to produce. So as far as cost wise even with shipping at a minimum order of $250 they are well ahead of the game.
<< <i>No, I only want one at face value and don't what to pay S&H.
The United States Mint pays for standard shipping and handling of domestic orders. Any special handling will be paid by the customer.
Sounds like a good idea to me. Search for errors. You can always just deposit them in the bank after searching. Bob >>
If you can get them and search them then get them to the bank and make an online payment to your credit card before the interest hits it you can actually help your credit and get the cash back bonuses and points assosiated with using your credit card. In the long run you get to search for errors for free and help your credit and get bonus points, sounds like a true WINNER to me.

I think these are distributed according to your Federal Reserve District. So if your in a "P" area, you'll get P's, if you're in a "D" area, you'll get D's.
However, for the adventureous, perhaps a trade could be set up?
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.
ARE you talking about getting into a series of president dollars and just the first ones are at this discount? The future ones that you have signed up for are at the regular(rip you a new one price)?
I ordered the max. Not only do I get the free rebate from the credit card, I have spent so many of these locally that I have actually seen some tellers start to hand them back as change.
<< <i>read carefully, it looks like you have to sign up for a period of time and only these dollars are at face value the rest are at a priemium. >>
The rest of what? The only ones at this discount are the president dollars so what is this rest of at a premium? >>
I did not see anything like this, I ordered mine without signing up for anything. Only thing billed was the face value coins. shipping was removed at checkout.
Amazing... simply amazing.... the mint is trying to get these into circulation, however the general public is not cooperating. There will be stronger measures to come. Cheers, RickO

Sure, start putting them in cherrios boxes, I bet they sell more cereal then.
Thanks for the thread. I just ordered 2 boxes with a credit card-i like this idea. If you like searching rolls, what a better way to get them, at face, delivered to your house! I,too, am also on the east coast hoping for "D" mint coins. This is a real effort to get them to circulate..Of course it will probably fail in the long run. I will order all of them but the bank will get most of them back. It is an attempt to force circulation but they may also need to discontinue the $1 bill also for it to happen to a larger extent.

General Mills was trying to sell cereal and used the "MILLENNIUM" to bring in the new year. (that the mint director opted to re-design the tail feathers on the first new small dollar just made a rarity)
In this case, I think the the government wants to take away the distribution from the FRB and get these coins into commerce by way of it's citizens. I think it is a healthy promotion.
"To encourage robust national circulation of $1 Coins (non-numismatic, circulation-grade coins), the United States Mint has introduced the Circulating $1 Coin Direct Ship Program."
REad this this is why they are ultimately doing it guys. I see nothing about signing up for a program or anything. Please show me where to read closely.
Becuase this is not there intentions to charge premiums for these .
They want to use this dollar. They(congressmen and women) are currently not willing to cut the paper dollar. The mint is spending millions on consultants and this was probably one of the suggestions they got.
"The mint is losing money after cc and shipping." I think you might want to look into that qoute. I believe they cost 20 cents to make" So lets see here.
.20 X $250= $50 plus 5 dollars for shipping with theier discounts. Which the recieptant is going to pay anyway. I believe with a 3% transaction fee they will still make about $192.35.
<< <i>Two slices of Pineapple and ham pizza and a tall glass of Rootbeer! Oops...Wrong order. I guess i won't be ordering then. >>
Damn that sounds like a great pizza, but you forgot to add the heavy onion, extra ham, but lite of the Pineapple. Cold Coors light beer, or don't forget the hot pepper sprinkles.

Broad, I had a friend that work for the govt. He told me certain branches don't pay any fees to the cc companies so, I think the mint is one of them that don't pay any fees.
Long story short, if you want to spend the US pres Dollar in another country it's only worth 57 cents right?
So the mint is still making money at aleast 43 cents minus the value of the plancet.
I am just rambling along today, don't know if anything I said is worth the price of tea in china.
I believe they should do this with all circulating currency coins like the penny, nickel, dime, and quarters etc. Just the coins and not the bills. It does seem like a grand idea, I'm sure the mint is making a little something off this too . I say that if it is good enough for the dollar coin than it is good enough for the rest of the coins. Plus this would save us so much gas too.
