250.00 from Ebay

WinPitcherWinPitcher Posts: 27,726 ✭✭✭
Guys this may interest some of you. I copied it from another message board. It has worked for them.

Sorry but I need hyper link help.

Crazy Ebay Deal - 35% UP TO $250 OFF ANY BIN PURCHASE
June 16 2008 at 9:56 PM Matt (Login MSW1)
Beginning Disclaimer - I am just relaying what a friend showed me (and I actually followed the steps) but don't come angry at me if it doesn't work for you.

The upshot is that Microsoft is running a promotion by which you can get 35% back on BIN purchases paid with Paypal on ebay.

Steps:
1) Go here: http://search.live.com/results.aspx?q=lego+table&go=&form=QBRE
2) At the top, in the gray box, should be a link that says "you may get 35% with Paypal if eligible." If you don't see that link, search for something else that is often found on ebay.
3) Upon following the link, you will be sent to ebay, and can then search for anything you like. The filters are already set to only show BIN items.
4) Once you find what you want, click the BIN> button. You will get to confirm before you commit.
5) On the confirmation page, MAKE SURE IT SHOWS THE REFUND AMOUNT. If so, finish up and pay with Paypal.

The refund, 35% of the BIN up to $250, should appear later in your Paypal account, but after your purchase, you must sign up with the cashback program here:
https://cashbackaccount.search.live.com/cashback/welcome.aspx (which happens to be currently bombarded and slow)
ebay terms are here:
http://pages.ebay.com/cashbackoffer/terms.html

Ending Disclaimer: Again, I'm only relaying this in the spirit of trying to be helpful. I make no guaruntees that any of this will work, but it looks legit enough to me that I did it.

Steve
Good for you.

Nice way for someone to get your PayPal login and password. Scary?

Seems like a rather convenient way to compromise your ebay and PayPal information for such a trivial sum of money.

It is an ebay link, and 250.00 is trivial?

Guys on the sports forum have used it and it worked for them.

I wouldn't tell you guys anything that would harm you.

One guy said type in Ipod and it went back to 35% but I am not sure if he was being facitious.

I've observed that the percentage varies: last night, I was offered 10% off; this morning, 15%. It evidently pays to experiment. More page views for Live Search?

Why are none of these addresses listed in the thread root addresses for the companies supposedly involved? Looks risky, as TomB and others point out at the top.

After reading several threads on this, I did some more research, and was able to get to the offer from Microsoft's site. I do believe it to be legitimate now, and you don't have to give your paypal password or anything like that. It also shows up on your ebay page and confirmation comes through ebay's "my messages".

Guys, I would act fast if you are going to use it because they seem to drop it very quickly... it had been at 10% for a good while.

It has worked all 3 times for me. image

Do you have a link to the particular microsoft website? I looked a little and couldn't find it.

The only issue is you will not get the money immediately. It will take several months from what I've heard.

Yeah it takes 60 days to get the 25% back, they send it via paypal.

Go to www.live.com and search something generic like xbox. The sponsored ebay link at the top will show cash back and the percentage they are currently offering.

It only lasts an hour, the 25% is still good as of this post, just go back to www.live.com again and it will come back on.

I will find where I found it through microsoft and post back here....

Bought a gold buffalo for $1,079 and cashback is the max of $250--roughly 25%.
I think the $1,000 figure is ideal. Spend more than that, and you still get only $250 back. Spend less, and you get less than that $250.
A gold buffalo for $840 (shipping and insurance added.) Not bad!

I think it takes 8 days to show up in your cash back account. It should have confirmed on the confirmation page when you check out the amount you were getting back, and within a few minutes of paying with paypal, a message will show up in "My ebay" saying you have cash back coming.

agree ... also, you will need to log off your ebay account & log back on if you are planning on making another purchase the same day. ( You only have a 60 minute window for each purchase)

GAT, don't be so cynical. It is a promotional and I doubt you need to be worried about "spam".
Trust me, I certainly believe MS has betters things to do. However, it is certainly understandable why they would want it to be a MS Live account....

Would you want to be coughing up promotional money like that and have someone using a gmail, or other, account for it?

I read all the fine print as well...I normally ignore things like this, but I read it, and I understand it.

To those that don't want to do it, for whatever reason, that's cool. No problem. I just don't get why folks try to discourage others by saying "spam", or "scam", etc.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Rots o' Ruck connecting to the sign up page at microsoft. I've tried everything including several browsers, with no go. Hell of a way to run a promotion. The top software maker in the world can't even keep a server up and running. I spent more money in time with an eBay live chat IT rep than the damn cashback amount!!

What's the link you are trying? I will try it right now from my home (comcast is the ISP). Could be something happening on your side, or your provider's side.
