My new digital Camera Nice Error pic

Check this out.

I bought a new Sony Digital 7.1 megapixel model DSC-W-55with the Carl Zeiss lens. In general, the models with the Zeiss lens adds about $50.00 to the price.

There I was at Best Buy, taking pictures of my pocket change, and tried every single model, maybe 35 cameras. When it came to close-up photography, nothing came even close! The Sony without the Zeiss lens was similar to all the other cameras, but the Zeiss lens would focus on a dime (literally!)

So check out this picture of this tiny Lincoln fragment, and let me know what you think. (listed on ebay btw, but this is the wrong board to say more)

Also, I am now trying, for the very first time, to use a new photobucket account, to see how fast it loads and how it works.

Enjoy!

Man, if that's what happens to the change in your pocket, there is concern for your nads! Nice photo. What is that "thing"? I have not got it identified.

Pretty nice photos. So what was the complete price? Did you try other stores also? One thing people should look into is camera shows for cameras. Just like coin shows, gun shows, knife shows there are camera shows in some locations. We have abaout one a month in myh area and I purchase almost all my cameras and equipment there.

  • The Sony cost $200. It was out of stock at the first 3 places I tried, finally, I found it at Walmart. Add $65.00 for a 2GB memory stick.

I use Microsoft Digital Image software, but am not happy with it. Any suggestions?

  • Nice detail on Lincon's ear too - pretty cool!
  • I also recently upgraded my digital camera to the 10 megapixel Canon Powershot A640. I took a few doubled die coins down to the camera shop and did some camera testing. I didn't have the bucks for a new digital SLR - but I found this Canon A640 did a nice job on macro photography right out of the box (i.e. no added lenses). Below are some examples of what I was able to do (cropped to show just the area of doubling I was attempting to get).

Not bad for a 'point-and-shoot' camera that costs less than $300.

Judging from the extreme thinness of the "fragment", and the disintegrating copper plating, this is most likely a multi-struck piece of "coin shrapnel" that broke away from a larger, more complete coin.

There are at least 12 different errors that are tagged with the label "fragment", or "scrap". In other words, the term is uninformative.
