i realize its tough from my bad photos,but i tried to take some hi-res pix and the camera just freaked out.
i need sunglasses to look at this Jeff,i know its 30 bucks in 68 but in 69 its a pop 2

Jeremy,after looking at it again,i believe all the crap is lint on the coin.
should i acetone it,
my 7x is more kind than the camera,is it ok to brush it with a cue tip ?
it does look like Sh_t in the pix !

the sarcasm is probably due to you kind of making some of these folks seem stupid or incompetant by alleging that this Jeff is or may be a Proof 69 - that is like showing us a kitten here and asking can anyone confirm perhaps if this kitty is a walrus !

In addition you have over 1200 posts - I'd assume you know very well or SHOULD know that nickel is at best 65 .

That statement alone would tell me that even if I sent in a proof that was a legitimate 69, the chances of pcgs giving me a 69 grade would not be good. Their butts are on the line financially with that type of grade, and they're not going to be handing them out very often. (in this case, twice in the past 18 years or so).

I think it's hard to grade proofs from pics... it could be the cleanest coin in the world, without a single nick or hit on it anywhere, and still be a 65 because of hairlines...

I completely agree with this statement- trying to guess the grade on a proof coin, especially with blurry pics, is an exercise in futility.

Sorry for the grumpy answers from folks.

To answer your question, it is extremely difficult to grade proofs from pictures like those. The coin is lovely, and seems to be a good brilliant specimen.

However, I do not think (even though I do not have it in hand) that it would reach 69. Very few proofs from that period rate 67 or 68, much less 69.

What grading service are you considering sending the nickel to? It may make a higher grade if sent to a grading service other than PCGS or NGC or ANACS.
