Please be honest, if you collect more than one series or type, select your preferred or favorite, or which ever you collect the most of.

  • Although this is an interesting idea, I think the vast majority of us collect more than one thing... I voted for 18th Century type because those are the coins I'm most attracted to and spend the most on, but in terms of volume, I probably have more Morgans and Barber dimes, even though I don't really spend much on these, just pick up low grade examples for my albums.

I primarily major in Morgan Dollars with minors in both 19th Century Type Coins & $20 Gold Pieces.

My signature line says it all below: ====/

  • Tough one. I said "other" because I am focused on 4 different collections: Major US Type from 1793 to present; US Half Cents from 1793 thru 1857; US Large Cents from 1793 thru 1857; and another which is not US. Sorry, but I can't pick a favorite out of the categories presented, but I'd have to say ALL the US Type coins.

  • I collect primarily SLQ's, but I also have collections in process of Silver Washingtons, Indian cents, and Statehood Quarters (cause I can find nice ones cheap from rolls from the bank).

My focus is on rare, choice pedigreed colonials, but I'll buy any rare pedigreed coin that looks cool and seems undervalued.

I really can't answer this question since I am always buying something different. I bought most of the walkers in 65 from 1934 to 1945 before the big price move so I have stopped buying there. Over the past 3 months I bought a 1909-S VDB Lincoln, a 1910 matte proof, a 1909 proof nickel, a 1937 proof dime, 1923 and 1925 quarters, a barber half, 1878-S, 1897, and 1898 DMPL dollars, and even a 1925 California comm. They are all neat coins but all very different.

I do both type and indian cents. I just love the coins of the 19th century and indian cents are primarily minted in that century. I put 19th century type.

Sorry, but I am one of those dirty, stinky Darksiders. I'd rather add a nice George III type coin to my collection than anything in the world!

My wife and I share our collection, mostly Lincoln Cents but where branching into a Type set. If you looked at our whole collection...You would call us hoarders rather than Collectors. We have a little bit in a lot of areas... It's fun, but we need to narrow it down a bit

I voted "19th century type", because (not including dealer stock), the only personal collection I have left is my Holey Coin Vest, and that is mostly 19th century type.

  • I'm with LM, I collect mostly 19th century type coins. However, I do like silver the best and I like proofs a little better than MS coins.

I wanted to say 18th and 19th century type, but I could not specify both so I marked 19th century.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

I too checked "19th century type" because that's my favorite category,
but have examples of almost all of the categories and working on sets of several series.

Even more surprising is we are currently tied with Indian head cent and Mercury dime collectors!

My Draped bust cents are actuallymy favorite set but I haven't added a coin to it in over five years. I was going to select other for my Conder tokens until I saw the slab listings and I have been adding to that collection more over the past few years than any other set.

  • Thx for the response everyone. image Though "Other" has more votes, that's spread over different areas... so, it looks like Morgans are probally one of the top most popular series, along with 19th century type image

  • I was working on a 144 piece set of Classic Commems but have come to the realization that I neither have the deep pockets or the time remaining of my three score and ten to finish the set. I am now just piddling around with odds and ends. Am finishing a set of circulated Walkers I have been working on since the late 60's. I need one coin to finish the set. I also hope to finish my birth year set. (1948, need 3 coins)

    Edited for spelling and clarity.

  • I voted for Peace Dollars. I would love to collect Double Eagles but they're a tad bit pricey these days!
  • Bust Quarters.... Followed by Drapped Bust Quarters, Seated Quarters, Standing Liberty Quarters, and Colonials.
