Capped Bust Half Series
Capped Bust Half Dime Series
It is because of people like you that makes this a great place.
Since I joined the message forums two and a half years ago, I have learned allot more about series of coins than I ever thought possible. Of course, I mainly collect errors, but I also like to collect a little bit of everything else.
The coins I have bought, I only bought because of some helpful information I got only from the forums.
Thanks everyone and thank you HepKitty Lucy.
Thanks for putting on a great giveaway.

There is a good mix of people here and many different opinions. I enjoy seeing everybody's viewpoint.
Los amigos buenos son inapreciables.
Also, donations for charity auction #2 are coming in... the board members have immense generosity.
Thanks for the chance, Lucy

The input from the community here can give us new focus on what is out there to collect, where to find new acquisitions, and how to view and define a collection. Russ is quite helpful with information on Kennedys and varieties, MadMarty is a name synonymous with the definition of AU58 and grading, Lucy and Russ both demonstrate the power an addiction to one coin can hold, K6AZ helps to develop people's appreciation of toned Morgans and the Airplane Nut shows us that even the youthful can know more about certain numismatic areas than peers twice their age. The community is a window that provides many paths for people in numismatics.
Sorry to hear of your Auntie's passing, Lucy. She is probably watching you from heaven, right now, and thinking what a nice thought this thread is.
It's great that such a wide variety of people can gain so much enjoyment by specializing in so many different aspects of the hobby -- such as Classical U.S. or Foreign, Modern U.S. or Foreign, Gold, Silver, U.S. Silver Dollars, World Crowns, Major Denominations, Minor Denominations, Error Coins, Varieties, Bullion Coins, and other specialty collecting groups.
Each of us who participates by sharing our personal experience and particular expertise are the strength and heart of this forum. It makes for a stronger overall coin hobby and marketplace. We can agree to be different, respectfully agree to disagree, and still appreciate each other's specialty collecting group.
Thanks to the many of you who have already enriched my collecting experience during the relatively short time that I have participated in this forum.

A reason,
A season,
or a lifetime.
All three are a blessing.
Even these good people on the forum fall into one of those to some degree or another......
and our family is what matters most...
P.S. this is not for the drawing, just for the few who will understand God's great love and maybe find some comfort....

Some people may make it not so fun, but that is like most families.
The other nice thing is that there is so much knowledge, and people looking out for others, that companies like ACG are less able to take advantage of us now.
I have learned much, and still have much more to learn, but I know that thanks to you and many others here, I will keep learning.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
As for Ben.. nice

frequently I agree or disagree so much I have to ;augh and wonder if that guy is serious
Nice half in your giveaway - isn't there too much clutter in the right field to go 66? 64 looks good.

This is what seems to have hurt this one... However, your seeing a blown up image, this stuff is less noticeable when actually viewing the coin. I can put it this way, this coin can hold its own against many ms66's that I have seen and owned....

People like Mike Prinze who I've done buisness with and had the pleasure of meeting three years ago, peple like Sinin 1 and the other Minnesota members I've coresponded with and met at Minnesota coin shows.
People like Jeremy who give me hope for the future [both inside and outside of the hobby.]
People like Russ who are always willing to share their latest coin pics and help other board members with theirs.
People like Miss Lucy, who has never as long as I've been here done anything to deserve an unkind word from anyone.
Registry members like the Dr. who would take the time to respond to someone he doesn't even know to shar his enthusiasm for barber halves and yes, show me the first pic. of a 92 O in mint state that I like.
People like Mark Feld who's informational posts go beyond anything 've ever seen a coin dealer do for the shear enjoyment of teaching or learning about this fabulous hobby.
To many more to mention, but those have been the positive things I've experienced since becoming a member last December and they by far out way the negative stuff.
Win or not, thanks to all.

This fourm can be the best place on earth at times. It's great to see anothers joy in their newest coin find.
Coinalot!
Also I am very moved when JR organizes care packages for our troops and Jeremy organizes fund raisers for charity and to all those who have been very generous and trusting. These actions support my view that humankind is basically good.
My first thought is the amount of diverse opinions and knowledge on these boards. I can't think of another place, including my local coin store, that I can get 50 different opinions on a question or topic in one day. Thanks to all here, as we make it great!!
We keep coming back. Regardless of the short-lived interruptions, most (if not all) come back to enjoy being part of a group.
And we are all better for it.
Regards,
Mark
Thank you for your thoughts and for your friendship.
I'd have to say the most positive thing about these boards for me has been the comradery. Through thick and thin, most have stayed civil and friendly. I've been treated to the luxury of respect and an education from people who don't even know me. Any time you can find that in the wild-west of the world (and the internet), you've done well.
Thanks!

My wife, friends, family, they just tolerate my interest in coins, and say "that's nice" or "wow, pretty"
but are not really into coins, you know, daddy-o? they just don't understand
But you guys, you like to talk about coins, and share pictures of coins, and discuss grading and pricing of coins, and reflect on their history and beauty and the market for them, and all the nuances of the hobby, from the vagaries of third party grading to moderns versus classics, from collecting plastic to collecting copper, silver and gold.
And it is a community, isn't it? Each member has their own coin preferences and prejudices, their own unique background and knowledge base to share, each of us has our own strengths and specialties, as well as follies and foibles.
But we all share a love of round metal things that serve as money, and love building a collection that has meaning and beauty to each of us, and reflects our qualities as numismatists.
And like any community, there are disagreements, squabbles, fights, brawls, and all-out flame wars occasionally, and sometimes one of us even gets the big hook and sent on an admin "time out"
But through it all, it always comes back to the coins we love, and even though finding people online to share that enthusiasm with can never take the place of our face to face interactions with other collectors young and old, and the people who passed us coins and the ones to whom we will pass ours, it is still really nice to have a place in cyberspace where we can just sit down and see and talk about coins on our desktops. We are lucky people!

I'ts funny that this is only the second online community and the first with mature indivduals. I have to say, it has been pretty nice so far.
My Ebay Items
I think this place has helped me gain valuable knowledge- and thus has helped me to avoid throwing my money away on bad coins. It's nice to be able to walk into a coin shop and feel like you have your bases covered from an information standpoint!

I love Ike dollars and all other dollar series !!!
I also love Major Circulation Strike Type Sets, clad Washingtons ('65 to '98) and key date coins !!!!!
If ignorance is bliss, shouldn't we have more happy people ??
