Do you think that silver will come back down to the 13/14 dollar levels ever again? I know that prices flucuate but does anybody think they will go back down to lower teens again?

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

  • Only if China and India disappear from the world economy.

Upper teens yes. Lower teens no. I don't see silver hitting $13 again in my lifetime.

Heck $18 sounds dirt cheap right now. image

Of course it could dip that low again, but that would likely be in the aftermath of a worldwide cataclysm and recovery. Always possible. Cheers, RickO

Houston, we have the wrong forum.
Positive BST transactions with: too many names to list! 36 at last count.
  • It might get that low in terms of New Dollars that are backed by real estate that our gov't will issue after the collapse of our current fiat currency. You heard it here first.

Tdec1000... I do NOT believe we will see silver below $16.00 EVER again!! UNLESS... as others say, the whole economy crashes...
If it doesn't then I think it will only rise... with the Class Action Lawsuits just issued by 3 or 4 companies/individuals, the released statement by Bart Chilton of the CFTC that they believe the Banks holdihng the HUGE short positions tried to munipulate the prices, & since the CFTC MUST now put position limits on Gold & Silver by this Jan & many are hoping they put the 1% rule in effect... I for one
think you will see silver at $40-$50 before end of year!! & then from there just rising... Silver is at the present 5-8 times under priced
from what it should be compared to GOLD!! So in turn... silver is the BEST investment in the WORLD right now...

    Get it while you can...

Given that my target price for silver is now $100 before I would even consider selling anything I
have, put me in the "NO" column. We may have reached the point where inflation is the only way
out of our current economic mess, which can only raise "hard assets." Like many of us, I sure wish
I had purchased more silver when it was below $5. What was I thinking, putting the mortgage,
food bills, and the kids' college accounts first?

My bad. I didn't read but how about the one started by Goldbully in 2008 on the front page with 56 posts stating that gold was at $887 and a current chart at $1380 +/-. image Could be a bit more lively. Of course, the metal detecting forum is really quiet and I wish it had more activity.

So you mean when posters dredge up old posts on the Coin Forum it means that there is nothing going on and everyone's bored? That seems to happen several times a week.

If you spent some time in the PM's forum you might actually understand the significance of those "cliff" climbing and diving threads. The original thread over there was started in spring 2004 and was recently retired in summer 2009 with over 10,800 posts. I guess that meant that for 5 yrs there was nothing going on in the economy or PM's. Nope, just an average of 6 posts per day in the same old "tired" thread that wouldn't go away. image

The last time there was a large increase in silver price, it did not seem to help the hobby of coin collecting.

At current prices, it might make collecting silver coins too expensive for young collectors, and they will move to something affordable.

Last week's Coin World said this very thing. They used generic silver Washington Quarters as an example. At $5 each, many people won't buy them.

Maybe, if they revalue one "new" dollar to equal 25 "old" dollars.

Which is what would be needed to restore the dollar to its pre-1913 value, and allow 90% silver coins to circulate again.

Either that or silver is actually properly priced and gold is 5-8 times OVER priced compared to silver.

edit to add: I tend to believe the later.
Just because I'm old doesn't mean I don't love to look at a pretty bust.

    ......................................................................................................................................................

Look at the Annual Uncirculated Dollar Sets from 2007 and 2008 being offered on Ebay.

Still can be had for less than $40.

They represent relative bargins with an ASE 2007-W or 2008-W plus 5 gold dollars to boot.

I'd go for these over any plain bullion ASEs

You won't find many of these for under $40 either. There are no buy-it-now's less than $40 and very few of these listed at all. Let's face it $30 silver eagles from 2008 less than $40 are gone and the 2007 are fast disappearing also and will be gone by the time this weekend is over in my opinion.
