Re: 1964 Cameo Accented Hair..Grade ReQ..POLL.. NEW PICS!

I am not really sure. At first I thought milk spot but when I turn it just right you can not see it anymore so to speak......After looking closer it is a blemish for sure. I assumed a milk spot now I am not so sure. If I look it is just on the surface and if tilted nothing can be seen so what else could it be? I wonder if… -
Re: An example of why NTC is even worse than ACG.
In point of fact, dipped coins are far less likely to develop the problem than undipped A coin becomes less reactive over time as it develops a "skin". Dipping strips that skin off. A dipped coin is more likely to develop problems. And, again, that huge milk spot on the reverse of this coin was not a result of a bad dip… -
Warning about eBay seller rgreene101
I bought a Buffalo commemorative from this guy. It had some milk spots, so I told him I'd return it. He said it didn't have milk spots when he mailed it, and then announced that he had a no-return policy, a little detail that wasn't on his auction page. I'm reporting him to eBay. Stay away from him! I want to save you all… -
I need help with my 95W SAE
I had my in-laws over for a dinner and coin grading gathering today. So after we were done looking at my Father-in-laws gold pieces, I took out my 95W SAE to show and discuss whether it was a 69 or 70. In our family, we don't slab...we appreciate raw. I was just telling everyone about the milk spot situation with SAEs… -

Re: tale from the crypt: mr coin takes a round trip thru NCS/NGC
Very nice coin. And NCS did a fine job - as usual. I sent in a run of borderline proof cameo 1962 Franklins that had milk spots as a test batch about 2 years ago. I just sent them for conservation - not grading. But NCS erred and sent them to NGC for grading - long story short, I got the grading for free. The results were… -
Re: Finally got an MS-69 1988 S$5 CAN
I'm not 100% sure, but I think they can still appear a little while after they've been minted. It strikes me as the kinda thing that happens relatively quickly if it is going to happen. I've never had like a 2013 or 2018 roll suddenly just go bad 5 or 10 years later after being fine for a long time. Maybe it might seem… -

Re: IS using "MS 70 " product coin cleaning? Acetone ?
As stated above, acetone will remove organics, and have no effect on the metal. It has been mentioned that it seems to affect copper cents at times... that is usually because of some previous residues or improperly rinsed chemicals used before the acetone. There will be no way of knowing this, so there is a bit of a gamble… -
