Re: How would you have reacted?
How would I react? Probably the same, gotten P.O'd and annoyed and decided the dealer was a jerk. As scams go, that doesn't sound like a very good one, though. Good scams are when the scamee doesn't know he is being fleeced by the scammer. This scam was like trying to kill an ant on the sidewalk with a twenty pound… -
Re: 1934 Goudeys - Legit?
Be careful - a scammer trick is to mix genuine commons with some key cards. Also - I just gotta wonder if there are more card lots offered from "estate sales" at any one time on ebay and elsewhere, than all the estate sales which have actually ever been in the history of the world...but at least it wasn't from "my… -
Re: Find of a lifetime! Collector finds Fourth Known 1854-S $5 and authenticated ATS
Yeah, I guess I left out the possibility of a dealer thinking its an applied mintmark (like scammers do with 1909-"S" Indian and Lincoln Cents) or even 2 halves of a coin fused together. When we're talking about a million bucks, anything is possible. You have to admit, even though it is authentic, that 4 does look strange. -
Re: Is this a counterfeit slab on Ebay
The seller is using the same do-it-yourself slab for the 1877 Trade Dollar. Notice how he/she uses the "consignor" and "friend" as cover. A fictional person to blame when caught. edited to add: We can disregard that now. He seems legit since 1998 & no negative feedback. Although, the consignor and selling it for a friend… -
Re: Autographed Magic Johnson Sports Illustrated Raffle For Good Cause... a huge thanks to MBMiller25
You sign up in two months ago and already need money. Who wouldn't be a bit skeptical, this is the internet friend and money is tight for a lot of folks, scammers are everywhere. Then you receive a very generous Christmas gift, but instead of calmly explaining you jump on one of the skepticks. if you make a plea for… -
Re: Buyer to get hosed!
I just got a few interesting emails from the seller after I sent him a follow up email letting him know that some of us where aware of his scam. The responses were classic lines straight from "Scammers 101 Handbook." The funniest part was that I must be mad that I missed out on such a great card at such a great price. -
Re: Paypal........come on guys!
Finally....................score one for the good guys! The buyer didn't provide return tracking info (there was none) to paypal, and after more than ample time they placed MY FUNDS back into MY ACCOUNT! WooHOO! $17.64. if you read earlier, it was solely about principle. (obviously) not about the money. Good guys one,… -
Re: eBay - Purchased Cards That Weren't Dlvd. It gets worse... Help
so in theory a shipper could send you a empty package with tracking, after a claim has been filed just to get a delivery confirmation?? Yep. The smart scammers used to do that all the time because paypal wouldn't let buyers open a not as described complaint after they opened a non-receipt complaint. Now buyers can appeal… -
Re: Seller charges double for shipping...anything can do?
You bid, you agreed to the S/H so why complain now? Was the S/H listed? If not why did you not ask? If that is your buying account why are you so worried about feedback. Actually 100% is not always a good thing. Scammers do target sellers with high feedback and 100% FB they percieve these sellers as pushovers who will not… -
Re: Ebay Power Sellers question
<< <i>It was a scam........................oh poo! >> Was it in your ebay inbox? I got mine last night and accepted it. Perhaps scammers know what day of the month they send these out on. Otherwise, seems like quite a coincindence. Once you click on acceptance, IIRC, it doesn't ask you to log in or provide your password…
