Whoever buys this Wilson Franks Ted Williams is getting a Reprint. The item was sold recently as a Reprint and this seller claims it's real... Uh oh!

It was his father's card, purchased before he was born. Therefore, it is real.

The auction is no longer on eBay, but the exact card in the exact holder previously sold for $50 and the seller noted it was a reprint. Love how the holder resembles PSA...

If a buyer is dumb enough to buy that card from that seller, then he deserves to be hosed

Ended at $365. Ebay sure isn't out to protect buyers from scams.

Buyers need to educate themselves. This was an obvious scam. Card is clearly a reprint. If buyers are that easy with their cash than a fool and his money are soon parted.

I don't think anyone "derserves" to be ripped off.

I agree a buyer should do their homework and ask questions - but one need not be an expert to ask for integrity from a seller.

that's what is shrinking this hobby - having to be an expert to enjoy it.

The sad part is that I asked the seller if he could provide a better scan of the front and back. He refused to respond to the email even though there were several days left on the auction. That tells me all I needed to know.

I don't think anyone deserves to be ripped off but if you're giving spmeone your money you have to use atleast some common sense. I mean the garage holder that's supposed to look like PSA, the zero feedback seller, the ridiculous story, the colors on the card are all off and it doesn't even look like an original and a real PSA 4 Wilson Williams goes for 4-5 grand ie if it's too good to be true.

LMAO. If you look closely at the holder, it's a MINI-SLAB.
It's the same type that Matt (LMM) uses for his auto football cards,
and the same ones that I was giving away on these boards.
You can see the plastic insertion under the flip he created to the top
of the card which holds the card in place.

Q: can you state which grading company graded this card, please? thanks, ben. Sep-04-09
A: im not sure what it is not labeled and this was my fathers card. thats why the starding bid is so cheap. I know it is real but I dont know the name of the company. it is in a sealed card case like psa but i dont think its psa. He has had this card for many years. probally before i was born. but he only had it graded about five years ago.

    <<< I know it is real >>>

yea, and we know you're a scammer.

It sure is. He also figured out my technique to install the flip to cover up the tabs.

I love this auction that the same seller recently had. Make sure to read the entire item description!

Here's the beginning (it gets even better - then he canceled all bids and ended the auction):

This is a horrible day for me. I have to sell my hole collection due to the fact that are bleeping landlord decided to raise are rent a couple hundered dollars more a month. so now I have to sell my pride and joy so we can pay for this months rent and to fork out enough money to move some where else cheaper. I have four little girls to raise and I cant do it while im paying for this place. So whatever I get out of this will help. Here we go. I will list every thing the best that I can. 1954 WILSON FRANKS TED WILLIAMS THAT I GOT FROM MY DAD WHEN HE PAST AWAY THIS PAST DECEMBER ITS RATED VG-EX 4, I SEEN THIS CARD SELL FOR MOSE THAN 5,000 DOLLARS AS A VG-EX 3. SO THIS SHOULD BE A GREAT CARD FOR ANY COLLECTOR.

Does PSA grade hole collections? Some days I thank my lucky stars I'm not a PSA grader.

With the money he makes, he should be able to quit his job, & go back and finish 4th grade

Seller just got 8 negatives today including one for the Williams that ended yesterday.
So the buyer didn't get hosed. I guess buyer knew what he was doing and the seller got slammed today.

I just got a few interesting emails from the seller after I sent him a follow up email letting him know that some of us where aware of his scam.

The responses were classic lines straight from "Scammers 101 Handbook." The funniest part was that I must be mad that I missed out on such a great card at such a great price.
