Re: Slimeball Seller Alert: donald115
BigGreek, whatever you do, please, please leave negative feedback stating he's a photo doctorer, and perhaps link to this thread. If "reversing" the transaction means you can't expose this scammer, don't do it. I'd be willing to kick in $20 to help you absorb the loss, since that feedback will save other collectors… -
Re: Your opinion please - a general idea for coin charity

Not sure who @ColonelJessup is calling a newbie.. I'm just back after a long hiatus. And more to the point... "We are a largely anonymous bunch and you are asking everyone to honor their internet word, which is essentially equivalent to a flashing sign saying "Scammers Welcome"." I hold out hope that those here with a long… -

Re: US Mint finally sent my missing penny
It took about a month. I sent in the form right away and explained how the invoice does not show the item on it. If you look at your invoice online you can clearly see the error occurred when they converted the order into a shippable sale and sent to be filled. It’s an error in process not in packing. It does take them… -
Re: Dealers ... How often are you offered recently made counterfeits when at shows or in your shop?
I've also noticed lots of counterfeits over the years at country auctions. These people all disclaim knowledge or responsibility, but they always seem to have current generation counterfeits in numbers, so I don't believe they are old fakes from estates. There's a small group of vest-pocket scammers (I think) that seed all… -
Re: Just doing my part as requested...........
:D :D I did not realize the scammers had now moved to 'gold dust' or any precious metals... usually it was always cash they were trying to move....Sadly, many have lost their savings and even died through these scams. So, although I laugh when I receive these (and I get two or three a month), there is a dark side involved.… -
Re: Are the eBay "Coin Police" Still Active?
<< <i>Could be hijacked, but they don't usually quote QDB and provide U.S. mint historical vignettes. >> not all scammers are morons. With just an hour to spare, a person can become well versed enough to start an auction on a rare coin, just by doing research on the Internet. This looks like a blatant scam, and not one of… -
Re: Lucky fellow unrolls an Oregon Mint Morgan....
eBay Seller Valleyforgecoin is a known scammer. He has knowingly sold counterfeit PCGS holders on eBay and elsewhere. Long story short, I bought one and had to get local law enforcement involved to get my money back. He's pretty young so we had to contact his parents who guilted him into paying me back. -Paul -

Re: Poll: fuzzy pics? Burned, bargain, or breakeven?

For me, it all comes down to "gut feel" with the seller if the pics aren't super. My best buys have come from those with little seller feedback...20-50 range. Yes, there are scammers galore but there are still plenty of legitimate sellers just trying to clear out there closets, desks, etc... I like coins and I can't take…
