Re: looks like gold and plat will cross paths soon? explain.....

Gold is the universal money.... It will always hold value. Platinum is metal used in industry. The country is falling into a deep recession. Therefore demand for Platinum will fall as production of vehicles, electronics, and we can't forget it is also used as a refining catalyst in the petroleum industry, continue to… -
Re: Greatest/Rarest Finds In The Wild?

My greatest in-the-wild find is this 1926 FS-101 DDO dime that graded out at AU53. (PCGS wasn't attributing them yet when I sent this in, but if it was in the pop reports, it would be pop 1/0 with the next highest graded example falling in at VF30). I bought it raw on eBay for just under $26. I have no idea what it would… -
Wonky flea market find
Poking my hand thru mounds of bits and pieces of stuff at a local flea market, I came across a dirty flip holding a 1888 IHC with a notation "Found in water at Niagara Falls when damn was built". Of course I had to connect the dots. The Falls monument opened in early 1880's, dam project was in 1961. Coin is VG at best but… -
Re: PCGS Market Report Article on Classic Commems
Let me start by saying, I didn’t read the Article. I just saw the screenshot above (that Goldbully posted) of the list of all the coins that dropped 80%-90% and the picture at the bottom of the page of a coin that sold at auction (16) years ago for $69,000.00. That particular 1926 Oregon that sold for $69,000.00 has a… -
Re: The absurdity of plastic - New NGC Black slab

<< <i>Oreville, those items you list sort of support my view. I was hoping someone could come up with an example where a 50-100X ratio exists somewhere else in modern day US coins. That would be similar to putting a common coin worth $10-$30 coin into a black slab and increasing its value to $1500+. A premium of 2X to 4X… -
Re: Would someone please post a picture of a AU capped bust half that is uncleaned, not dipped and with

This is such a controversial subject. There is original (almost nonexistant) and original as best we can guess. White coins are pretty much never original, so Bill, I agree that your 1812 is not original. Experts like slumlord and such swear that the only truly original busties are those that are "powdery" grey/brown.…
