Quick turn around by PCGS - Date received 1/23, date shipped 2/12
Submitted as a slow boat order and it was turned around in 3 weeks! Grades not bad either though I thought at least 1 of the Lincolns would grade MS67... they are all nice coins. I also thought the 46 S 5c would grade 65 FS. 6 1954 S/D's in 64 and one 65 isn't too bad either. 1 1 11366998 2734 1945 1C US MS66RD 1 2… -
Re: 1956 proof Franklin Type 1 and Type 2 comparison image.
I like 1956 Frankies, cuz #1 its my birth year; and #2 I have found some nice raw CAMDCAM proof Type @ coins in original proof sets or as singles. I have only come across one Type 1 proof and it is brilliant and would grade maybe 64-65. I cherrypicked an original 1956 set from a pawn shop last about 2 weeks ago that has a… -
Re: Is this a 1981 type 2?
I think it's a regular Type 1 set. Those are also "clear S". The '81 Type 1 has the same mintmark as the '79 Type 2. In other words, both types for '81 are "clear S". The difference on the '81 Type 2 is that the serifs are more pronounced. I can't tell that one way or the other from that image. Thus I have to assume that,… -
There are now 2 of these in MS 67 ?? !!!
This coin came out of the Superior sale May 2006, a PCGS 65. At the time, pop report indicated only 5 graded MS 65 by PCGS. So in 20 years of PCGS history, only 5 made that grade. It stood that way until very recently. Now I discover today from looking at the pop report that 2 more are now MS 67's !! There are still 5 MS… -

Update - - 1889-O Morgans Oval O VAM 2
In a recent thread I posted pictures of two unattributed 1889-O Morgans, one in an ANACS MS61 holder, and one in an ANACS MS63 holder. I picked these up on ebay and Heritage for common money, but thought they might be rare Oval O VAMs. Some board members had doubts, and asked that I provide an update once PCGS… -

Re: Share your thoughts: 1913/2 overdate or plain 1913 on this Peso
To follow-up on the comments about NGC attributing the 1913/2 overdates, they're now doing it. I had a pleasant conversation the day of my last post with Mr. Scott Schechter, VP of NGC about attributions. To make a long conversation concise, Scott said they would re-visit attributing overdates and have now added four of… -
Re: Grade Revealed -- 1873 (Open 3) PCGS MS-61 $20 Gold Liberty (Type 2) Double Eagle -- New Heritage FU

This will be the last chance to participate in this latest episode of "Guess the Grade" for this 1873 $20 Gold Liberty (Type 2) Double Eagle before I post the answer when this thread sinks down to page 2 or 3 into U.S. Coin Forum oblivion either later tonight or early Sunday morning. With a total of 22 votes so far, we…
