Raw coin photoshoot with some slabbed coins and varieties as well

I was putting together a submission to PCGS and had these raw coins to take images of before they went off. Taking some of the advice of the members here, I tried to adjust a lot of my photos to take into account their suggestions. Enjoy! For all of you photo gurus out there : as I was editing these, I made two… -

Would you take Eye Appeal or Quality for a coin?
Would you take eye appeal or quality for a coin? I have two of the same coin and cannot decide which one to keep. Unfotunately, I can't keep both . One has better eye appeal and is much shinier and clean with very bright luster but it also has more hit marks. The other has almost no hit marks and is a close upgrade but has… -

Holy Cow Crystal Lake!! I grew up there. and only live a little north of there in wisconsin. You must be staying at the holiday inn!! As far as card shops go there is only one I know of and its called Prime time.... BUT i cannot recommend this one. The owner is almost always gruff and at times just plain nasty pain in the… -
Buying from apmex good or bad idea?
My daughter is really into coin collecting and there isn't a coin shop for miles and Im really not good enough at spotting fakes at flea markets or pawn shops and eBay. So I was looking at apmex and was wondering if their raw uncirculated coins are worth paying their price. Their walking liberty half dollars in particular.… -
Re: My herd of Buffalos - gold that is
<< <i>These red spots are driving me crazy. My Grant FSMS70 already had formed a small red spot. Figures it was the only one that graded 70.All my 69s are still ok so far. What will PCGS do about it in spot review? >> Just so folks aren't confused by my previous statement I was referring toning specifically, and not the… -
Re: Does anyone here use an ultrasonic coin cleaner?
I have one but have never tried it on my coins. It's used a lot in the jewlery business. It usually removed grim and dirt, won't do anything for milk spots or any type of chemically attacked surfaces. Most of my coins are uncirculated so never tried it out but it would probably do an ok job if I ever get a grimy coin. It… -
Re: Toned ASEs
While I do love and appreciate nice toners, ASEs have always turned me off for three reasons. First, they're bullion coins and were never intended for circulation. I fail to see how or why anyone would consider a bullion coin to be a collectible. Second, they're 0.999 pure, which makes them very soft, but also much more… -
Re: Over by OP
<< <i> << <i> << <i>As long as there are those who will pay a premium for the pretty colors sometimes left on tarnished silver, then there will be those who will try to get pretty colors to appear. Anyone who likes the pretty colors and pays premiums for them, but also demands "strictly NT only", is bound for eventual…
