I'm going to put my 2 sealed boxes in attic and come back in 5+ years and open one. I'm curious if they will tone with passage of time and a little NC attic heat and cold. Probably just get sour milk...........spots. -

That 1837 Bust Half is a much better coin to own than the modern Franklin, and you never need to worry about milk spots on the Bustie. You did get short changed on the Bustie though, they left off the letters on the third side. -

Swampboy, That depends on what question you're asking. If it is will PCGS correct the problem on that coin, probably not. That's a milk spot, and it ain't coming off. If the question is will PCGS take care of it through their guarantee by compensating you or replacing the coin, the answer is absolutely they will. Russ, NCNE -

I have no idea especially considering that PCGS no longer guarantees the grade and they are at risk of milk spots. I'm happy with keeping my 5 oz ATB's in their original government packaging. I'm guessing registry hysteria has something to do with it. -

As Lucy so aptly pointed out, the issues of bagmarks, milk spots, haze, ugly toning, also play a role in how they are viewed by graders and collectors, thus these will certainly detract from the grade of Franklins, and unfortunately they are all too common.
