1872 business strikes are the key date for 2¢ pieces (along with the 1864 Small Motto). It is estimated that only 65,000 were produced and that many were subsequently melted down by the Mint. Well unfortunately our daughter found out she’s A+ and her mom’s O- unfortunately blood type O are universal donors but they can only get another O kidney ☹️ We still have others to test but it’s was a hart break we might be able to do a chain donation if we can’t find a good family match. Here's a very cool piece that I just had the pleasure of photographing. One of two known, this obverse die trial for the 1804 dime was struck, most likely outside the mint, on a copper large cent planchet. -
