Card Saver 1's vs. Card Saver 2's and storage issues

Ok,

Firstly, let me say that I know this issue has been discussed before but I really need a definative, end all answer so please forgive me.

I recently purchased BCW 2 row (shoe type) storage boxes. It is evident that my CS 1's don't fit (not even close).

I do not want to keep my cards in CS 1's in the boxes that the CS 1's came in.....(just to be clear).

I don't like toploaders because there are not used for subs and not mylar sleeve friendly.

So, the way I see it , I have 2 options. ( I am sure many people in the same boat).

Option 1

Switch to Card Saver 2's and keep the BCW storage boxes. (Are CS 2's as sturdy?)

Option 2

Find a new 2 row storage boxes that can fit Card Saver 1's.

Can anyone/everyone help me put an end to this topic !!!!!!

I really like the 2 row boxes so I can keep different boxes for different things, and use avery lables on the back !!!1

thanks again guys

    option 2.

I think CS2's suck for standard cards; CS1's are more forgiving.

If you decide to submit at some point, you already fulfill psa's requirement of CS1's.

I am slowly moving all my vintage from 2's to 1's. After taking out my 57-58 Topps Hockey partial set of 2's and transferring to 1's, I became a believer.

1's are still useful, and will house 75 Minis and other small items (stamps, coins, etc) and regular issue 80's on up that I don't really care about condition (e.g. 100 1986 Jose Canseco Topps Traded).
Kiss me once, shame on you.
    Kiss me twice.....let's party.

CS2's are too tight. You can ruin the corners very easily.

Yes, I do think that PSA should return the CS1s that are used in submissions.

    Huh?

    Oh...

    ...wrong question, sorry

How about utilizing some basic carpentry skills and make whatever you need? There are some exotic types of wood that could really make a stunning box/case to create not only a storage box, but a beautiful piece of woodwork to proudly display. I would think with some Googling, you would be surprised to see what's available and actually how easy it would be to serve your needs.

Yes, there are extra wide 2 row shoeboxes that fit slabs and CS1's. This store has them although they're not listed on the site- http://www.bbcoutlet.com/

    Give them a call.

I accidently ordered CS2s and I used them for subs however they are awful.I can find no use for them unless you are subbing pre 53 bowmans, minis and such.
Most were 48 bowmans that I subbed however the larger cards fit but with very little space to spare.Just hope grader is careful pulling the cards out.NO MORE!!
Also Check with BCW as I believe they have boxes for CS1s.

They also make a one row box that is longer than the two row box that will hold the CS1 holders. Two side by side will take up the same width as a two row on a shelf but they'll hold more cards because they're longer. I find it's easier to organize things in single row boxes.

I recieved a response from a company that does sell 2 row shoebox storage for CS1's.

The only probably is they do pickup only.

They sell them $2 a box for CS1's and $2.50 a box for graded slabs.

    Here is there address:

    Baseball Card Outlet
    7502 Eastern Ave
    Baltimore,Md 21224

This is the email and the don't have pics -- lol.

That's the best I could do, if anyone is in that area I would gladly take 10 -12 on them if they fit correctly.

What are some of the CS1 knock-offs, cheapies that I can use for sub's?

Edit: not trying to steal anyone's thunder, just didn't want to start a new thread.
    Thanks

    Glad I found this thread.

I'm looking to transfer my 1955 Topps All-American Football set from a binder to CS1's for storage. Does anyone else store sets this way? Is there anything I should look out for?

I was once told that THESE were made for CS1's...even though the picture shows a graded card...since the Super Vault is made for graded cards and the inner dimensions are bigger.
  • I store mine this way and need boxes for them too. I normally use the box that the Card Savers came in for storage but I need a bigger box!
  • I use the Vault Storage boxes to store my C 1's. I love it. There may be a better way out there, but this works very well for me. I guess one of the things I like about them, you can stack a bunch on top of each other and they are space friendly IMO.

Thanks guys. Do you use a penny sleeve with the CS1 as well?

i always use card saver 1 on my stars and card saver 2 on my commons. i always use a penny sleeve.
  • What's the major advantage to Card Savers over top loaders? I know they take up less space and don't scratch as easily.

Top loaders are THE WORST when it comes to damaging corners. In fact, any time I buy high grade raw online and it ships in toploaders, I always assume I'll get nothing gradeable out of it.

  • Thanks for the shout out vintagechris!

We do also stock BCW's full line of cardboard boxes (vaults, super vaults, shoes, etc). If anyone is interested in either feel free to e-mail me directly (steve@columbiasportscard.com). Also, quite often when customers purchase the 1000ct and 2000ct Card Saver 1's we ship them out in Priority Flat Rate boxes and not in the red boxes. I know some of you prefer the red boxes. It does cost us a bit more to ship them out with the red boxes, but if you would prefer them that way and be willing to cover the extra, we are more than happy to accommodate you!

Feel free to message or e-mail me with any questions. Currently we stock Cardboard Gold's (manufacturer of Card Savers) entire product line and this year added BCW's entire product line as well. We ARE a little behind on getting it all up on the website, so if you don't see it on our website, the chances are we still stock it. Just ask!

    Enjoy your holidays guys!
