      Milk spots, and I'll guarantee they weren't on the coin when it was graded. It's a common problem with late 50's and early 60's proofs. Russ, NCNE

      Reduced Price I have a couple of miscellaneous items I would like to move. Both coins are in uncirculated condition with nice surfaces as pictured (proof & mint state respectively). Both coins are "milk spot" free so any "spots" that you see are on the air-tite holders and not on the coins! Asking $35 delivered for the lot…

      I would assume that if General Mills worked out the details for a 20,000,000 package promotion well in advance of actually putting coins into cereal boxes, which would be logical, then it KNEW that it needed 5,500 Dollar coins and therefore it ORDERED 5,500 Dollar coins. What's the Mint going to do? Tell them no? The Mint…

      Probably occured after being slabbed. See how bad milk spots can be on modern silver, even eagles slabbed right off the mint.

      Ah yes, the presidential first girlfriend. I will however have to check to see if the grading services will be restricting 70 grades for fear of "MILK SPOTS" forming.

      I hope you are implying for the better on the other proofs. I have a complete (except the 95W) raw proof set. No milk spots on any of em.

      71s, 72s, and 73s are generally more hazy with milk spots, but I have seen a few 72s & 73s that approach the toning of 74s (but not quite the same).
