Got me USMC Proofs today. It looks like there is a bunch of little spots that look like pieces of lint on both proof coins i got. So i opened the holder, got out the compressed air, and tried to gently remove these. They didn't go anywhere. It ain't lint. Are these the infamous "milk spots" or something completely… -
Re: Should toning bump the grades on coins ???
Yes, it should bump the grade "DOWNWARD". Any other types of environmentally damaged coins will get points knock-off. E.g. Copper spots, milk spots, etc are seen as negatives so why is toning any different. Someday certain dings, scratches and fingerprints will become considered acceptable and maybe even appealing. IMHO, I… -
FS/T: (NORFED) North Carolina $20 2006 One ounce silver

Got this in a lot of silver I purchased. When I looked it up after the deal it appears that this particular date in the series brings a bit of premium over silver content. Apparently almost 3x silver. When I purchased it I believe silver was in the $25 range and these were selling on ebay in the 65 - 75 range. Anyhow, if… -
Re: New Product I assume will be exclusive to APMEX
Just looks like the typical apmex mint direct holder. Guess PCGS must now certify that it's straight from tube to holder. I have purchased the apmex mint direct in the past but only when found at spot or less. Graded / first strike slabbed bullion premium is the scam of the millennium. It all milk spots and tones just the… -

Re: AU-55 "Cheerios" Sac found in NC

<< <i>I have this non scientific theory. There were not 5500 minted from these dies as previously thought. Since Mr DeLorey's initial discovery of/ or THE Discovery piece that was formerly owned by Mr Braddick and graded MS 66, there have been reports of NGC opening an original package containing a Sacagawea without the "… -
Re: Saturday morning coffee with coins

Well, the PNNA was a great venue. I really liked the conference room they had set up, large and spacious with good lighting and overlooking the Columbia Rover. Definitely a excellent spot. Also, the place we had breakfast (a few miles South) was outstanding. It's called Gravy and it's on Mississippi Street in that funky… -
Has anyone had any 20th Anniversary SAE's body bagged from an unopened box?

Re: Baltimore and Pluto! Who's going?

Three billion miles from Earth and just two and a half million miles from Pluto, NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft has taken its best image of four dark spots that continue to captivate. The spots appear on the side of Pluto that always faces its largest moon, Charon—the face that will be invisible to New Horizons when the… -
Re: Will the 2021 coins arrive before we are able to add 2020 coins to our current sets?
I think January is usually when the slots become "required" -- typically the slot becomes available the first time someone gets a correct cert number and requests it to be added (or in the pre-pandemic scenario, when someone on the Registry staff happens to notice one that catches their eye and adds it on their own...) But…
