WTB Spanish Gold Escudo's (1/2, 1, 2) 1700's
I am looking to buy several spanish Gold Escudo from the 1700's, possibly the early 1800's. Graded examples in VF20 or higher are preferred PCGS/NGC but raw problem free will certainly be considered as well. Re: Is this an error? 1988 D. How do I distinguish between a genuine mint error? And post mint damage. .
No. Your coin has obvious post mint damage. 1) Learn how coins are made during the minting process and what types of errors are possible during the minting process. 2) Study verified examples of errors to learn what the different types actually look like. 3) Use common sense. If a coin looks like it was smashed repeatedly… -
My 2 newest error coins are going to get married... in a PCGS 2-coin slab

I haven't owned a mated pair for several years and I was looking to buy a nice set. When I saw this 1964 pair come up for sale I had to have them! Coin #1 is triple struck. The first strike is a broadstrike with obverse brockage. The second and third look like they are a saddle strike, and one mates up with coin #2 which… -

Re: Really cool Canadian toner at GC this week.
I think this is the wrong forum for your post but regardless, The 1971, 2 and 3 prestige sets were encased in a red flocked display case. The flocking seemed to have an effect on the nickel dollar that severely toned it. There are probably more toned dollars than those without toning. In 1974 the mint reverted to a black… -
