FUN 2014 And Phil Arnold Captures Godzilla

I`ll jump ahead some eight and a half hrs. arriving on United in Denver in the middle of a blowing snow storm after my hotel wake up call at 2am... Lets just say won`t bother with the boring details prior to that wake up call... Actually I am trying to block that part out of my brain as I am going to have to do it in… -
1912 "matte proof" Lincoln Cent on ebay, from Great Southern ending in 3 plus days
I was wondering if any of the Lincoln Cent matte proof collectors had looked at the 1912 "matte proof" Lincoln Cent that Great Southern had in a current ebay auction ending in three plus days -- the auction numbr is 290387431594 -- and what makes me suspicious about this coin is that they are putting quotes around the… -
Re: Numismatic Goals for 2026
As usual I'll keep an eye open for nice renaissance and baroque era low denomination coins from the cities of Braunschweig, Hannover, Göttingen, Hildesheim, Northeim, Einbeck, Hameln and other places in southern Lower Saxony. A medieval coin from the Bishopic of Hildesheim would be nice aswell. I should also keep my habit… -

Re: Golden State Coin Show (Arcadia) Aug 25-26, 2012!

The show is a little bit smaller than it was a few years ago. It was never quite 75 dealers as mentioned in the OP of this thread... I think the room has about 55 tables total. The room was pretty full today with only two tables unsold. And a few other tables set up with collector's exhibits. I'd guess around 40 dealers in… -
Why aren't Southern Gold coins given a rarity number (like early copper and other coins)?
I could be wrong, but I don't recall Southern gold coins being listed with rarity numbers (like R-1, R-6, etc.). I took a look at the new Doug Winter New Orleans gold book. He lists "total known" pieces for each date, and further breaks down the totals known by grade. For example, for the 1843-O Large Date quarter eagle,… -
Re: Southern So-Called Dollars Mega Thread

Moving on to the 1883 Southern Exposition (SH 3-61 to 3-63), and beyond Theiler's medal... for those of us who know of the infamous William H. Warner and Brother Co (Brother = Charles K Warner (CK Warner) of Civil War Token Fame like GW-733), with this fabulous silver store card re-sold by Steve Hayden in 2025 (after being… -
Re: Sizeable losses for nice Fairmont coins tonight.

Let me preface by saying Doug IS a legend, and he likely forgot more than I’ll ever know about these coins. They’ve been his specialty for decades, so he’s positioned where he's likely handled just about all of them, and pretty much single handedly created the appreciation and demand for them with his research and… -
Re: I just examined a group of Charlotte and Dahlonega gold....
<< <i>CharlotteDude: Beautiful coins...I would love to have 1 example that nice. RYK: Awesome as well....that 1803 is about as original as is gets for gold!!!!
