Re: Acetone and spotting eagles.
I use Koinsolv, which is a brand name solvent containing n-Propyl bromide, 2-Propanol, Dimethoxymethane, 2-Methyl-2-Propanol and 1,2 Epoxybutane. This solvent is not Acetone but I understand that it has similar properties. I usually just swirl the coin in a glass cointaining the liquid and then dip it in a separate glass… -

Re: What does it mean when the same coin gets sold on Teletrade multiple times?
<< <i>Is the coin not a DCAM because the frost is weak on Kennedy's check and the eagle's shield? >> That, and quite a bit of the lettering. << <i>Though I do not collect DCAMs, am I correct in presuming that it is these characteristics that preclude the DCAM grade? >> In my opinion, yes. << <i>What are you looking for as… -

I’m inspecting the 40 that just arrived today. So far, five of the first five were unacceptable….and they all had the same obvious flaws…very evident und a new 3x lighted magnifier thinger… They all had “cloudy” areas,; which upon inspecting with the new magnifier we individual “milk spots”. Also, several seem to have been… -

Re: A question for sellers on eBay or BST that don't accept returns.
My few eBay listings say no returns because I don’t want it turning into an approval service. With such low volume (and items I’ve decided don’t have a spot in my collection), it doesn’t make financial sense to offer returns. Now if someone reasonable asks (reasonable meaning they don’t have a history of leaving multiple… -
2006 Reverse Proof ASE
So I have a a set of the 20th anniversary with the reverse proof in PR70, PR70DCAM, and MS69 all with the 20th anniversary label. I have no idea what to do here or if I'm just SOL...the Reverse Proof and PR70DCAM both have MILK SPOTS...these have been stored in a food saver bag vacuumed up for over 4 years (maybe 5) and… -
Re: Any advice on raw coins?
Grading raw coins is really difficult and surprisingly simple at the same time. just turn and twist the coin in the light so you can see every mark. When there are almost no marks it's a Gem. Great advice from everyone here. Compare your coins, look for marks you don't like or that are distracting. I like to put sharp…
