Re: Thanks for the comments...

Burfle— Your thread is an extremely valuable post for all of us. Your resources allow collectors like me to become savvier and avoid the scammers, which is a tremendous value to our hobby. I acquire coins through shows, dealers, and online resources and have encountered several hard-to-detect fakes. For the past several… -
Confederate Currency Authentication Help

Hi all! I'm hoping to get your opinion on a CSA that I am thinking of purchasing...and maybe an idea of approximate value... A guy contacted me with a few pics of a T-35 saying that he wanted to sell it. As most scammers say, he inherited it... but this guy seems more legit. He knows what it is, claims his parents bought… -
Re: Newbie shipping question re an eBay sale to a 0 FB please
<< <i>On the email I received from eBay it lists the buyer's shipping address as WA state. When I check my Paypal account it lists his same name under "Seller Protection Address" as the PO Box in CA. Does that help? Again, thank you very much. Can I get signature confirmation delivering to a PO Box? >> does details page… -
Re: Ethics and the Hobby
1. 25% of posters are 110% ethical. They will tell you exactly why they are thining and will give you the shirt off their back. They explain every response, what they know on the subject, and will even suggest where you can find more information. These folks are genuine nice people who, in many cases, love the hobby. 2.… -
Re: POLL: If a dealer (or collector) owes you, how long will you wait?
There are certain steps you have to take within a certain timeframe. Paypal, for instance, requires you file a claim within 45 days (I believe that's the timeframe now). Ebay makes you wait 30 days but won't let you file after 90 days. Your credit card might have a time limit on chargebacks. Statute of limitations varies… -
Re: Value of Morgan silver dollars
<< <i>at another 2 zero's to it and you are a bit higher than what I just sold it for! Under a grand but close enough, and no ebay fee's !!! Gotta love it! AND, with paypal, so I can see my cash in right away, reputable seller, can't beet it! But hey, don't believe me, you all are busy seting up other people's auctions so… -
Re: Do you care whether or not a dealer is a member of the PNG?
Absolutely. It's about the only way you might have a good chance of recovering your money if you were ripped off. The one time I had a problem with a dealer (he was in the process of applying to PNG) he had ignored paying me for a coin he sold for several months. A quick call to the PNG and I had a check in the mail within… -
Re: Help! Anyone else think there's something wrong with this Reggie auto?
Just thought I would update this one for everyone who took the trouble to help me out. Contrary to my expectations (and I suspect most other people’s) the seller, far from being a scammer, was merely the victim of someone else. He readily forwarded a scan of the card-back which proved the forgery and without prompting… -
Re: Alittle investigation on one of those dealers that gets high grades
This is not a hysterical post, carew4me. If you read the boards regularly, you would have seen my thread in the last few days regarding the activities of "unklbnz", a known card trimmer and scammer. We basically documented how he goes about his business (on both a BGS card, and a PSA card), and he immediately pulled his… -
Re: anyone have any dealings with cardsautosrookiesplus on ebay ?
This may or may not help you. About a month ago a teenager was running a scam out of Niceville, FL. He took a bunch of people's money for expensive cards he did not have. We tracked him down and his father repaid at least some of us. His father said his son was being guided in his scams by a dealer in Fort Lauderdale.…
