Re: Wanting to get back in the hobby......
Welcome to the boards and back to the hobby. Great advice so far by all the above. Beware of ebay scammers with raw cards - the cards are typically overgraded by 1-2 grades (except for the fine members here). If you factor in the overgrading, you'll be ok. As for prewar, lots of fakes out there which helps drive people… -

Re: A nice find at work. (Warning! Big Pics!)
<< <i>I would definitely get it authenticated. Unless an item is authenticated by a reputable source or is something that I get from a close friend that I trust, I won't invest in it. For one, I've been burned on bogus COAs/LOAs. Anyone can make a decent looking COA/LOA. As far as the guarantee, I once had a phone number… -
Re: Why does congress hate coin collectors?

Why does congress hate coin collectors? I say no emphatically. Congress and us as taxpayers hate people who uses hobby losses / expenses as a means of evading taxes. Back in the 1980s/early 90s all kinds of scammers used the unsuspecting to unload common coins at uncommon prices. Fast forward a few years and people wised… -
Re: Possible Porch Thief??
Several things to unpack in this statement. My scenarios have nothing to do with filing an insurance claim against the post office, just want to make that clear. Also, I have not had the experience of a mailing label tracking number get switched on my package, yet. How do I obtain the photo the post office takes of a… -
Re: Coin shop visit
You'd be surprised of the number of people that do not bother with Ebay. With scammers, returns etc. I do not partake in Ebay for these reasons. When I decide to sell I will be content letting the AH deal with the headaches. As far as B+M shops go they get much walk in traffic from sellers looking to liquidate for various… -
Re: ***gold coin for CHEAP, no takers
I would not censure all of these people because I would have some questions. • First I would want to handle it to make sure that it had the look and feel of gold, and it had the sharpness of government struck, genuine coin. That of course would require some expertise. • Second, I be concerned that it was "hot." Receiving… -
Re: Anybody Have Any Idea What the Scam Being Attempted is Here ?
Folks using the green labels can input the DC# manually on EBAY's "Items Sold," "add tracking" screen. The info is then uploaded to PayPal; the PP screen will show when the item is delivered. ............................. I've been experimenting with PP-Shipping. No problems, so far. The carrier takes them from my box and… -
Re: would like to get some input on a "not as described" Paypal case
I assume you have a photo you took before he bought it. So I am not sure I would let him return it. They sound a bit sketchy.. Some scammers will send a fake (empty) package with a tracking number. Then when you receive it and the package is empty they will claim to Paypal they sent it back and provide a tracking number…
